Senior Project Manager, Contract Administration & Oversight

Public Works – Water and Wastewater

Regular Full Time; 2 Positions available

Salary Range: $110,870 to $138,589 per annum plus comprehensive benefits

Work mode: Hybrid * 1 day per week onsite at 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton, ON which can increase based on operational needs.

Hours of work: 35 Hours per week

Reporting to: Manager, Contract Administration and Oversight

 

What you will do in this role:

Deliver of large complex inter-municipal agreement, for major repair, rehabilitation and replacement, for large diameter transmission watermains/sanitary sewers and appurtenances, groundwater and surface water/wastewater treatment facilities, water pumping and water storage facilities. Projects often involve multiple disciplines taking place simultaneously in the same location requiring coordination and management of multiple budgets, vendors and contractors
Work in collaboration with manager or program managers, define capital project objectives, scope of work, key stakeholders, roles and responsibilities, key deliverables, proposed stages and schedules. Identify project risks and mitigation strategies
Prepare terms of reference, tender documents for contracts, requests for proposals and evaluate detailed proposals. Lead Value Engineering assignments when peer review is required to ensure constructibility and value
Negotiate with public utilities, conservation authorities, local municipal representatives, provincial and federal agencies to secure required permits and approvals in collaboration with Infrastructure Planning, Real Estate and Legal support staff
Promote a safety culture and set a good example by working in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations. Use equipment, protective devices and personal protective equipment as required by Peel. Report any known workplace hazards or violations of the Act to the Manager or Program Manager
Create and maintain constructive partnerships and relationships with local municipal representatives, conservation authorities, government agencies, water and wastewater industry associations, contractors, consultants, suppliers and academic researchers and institutions for the benefits of Peel.
Build trust in our services by actively working to find solutions with our residents, business owners and councillors
Deliver services with compassion, care and attention to stakeholder well being and success. Consider service delivery from the viewpoint of a resident and business owner
Provide appropriate and timely service delivery updates. Set clear, realistic expectations with residents and business owners regarding timelines and follow up throughout the project
Actively collaborate, cooperate and share information with other divisions and sections in Public Works and corporate support staff
Contribute to improvement initiatives related to design, material, project management, customer and service delivery standards
Regularly maintain and enhance knowledge on emerging issues, new technology, changing standards, codes and regulations, internal policy and procedure changes, and innovative products, services and practices
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
What we require:

Completed University degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years experience working in planning, design and construction of municipal infrastructure, including watermains/sanitary sewers, treatment facilities, pumping and storage facilities
Polished understanding of watermains/sanitary sewers, and/or water/wastewater treatment facilities, pumping and storage facilities
Thorough knowledge of construction law, municipal procurement process and all relevant legislation

Work Mode & Job Location:
In this role, you’ll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you’ll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton ON worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.

 

It’s important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we’re compliant with all regulations and policies.
