Full-Time Senior Product Lead

Who are we looking for?
The Product Owner is a tech savy, development team facing counterpart to the Product Manager. The person on this role understands customer’s and other stakeholder’s business to enable innovation and solution creation. Acts as the systems engineer by understanding and being responsible for all the technical and comprehensive details of the product including hardware, software, firmware and how they interact to perform the feature functionality. Defines overall product technical requirements for implementation via user story acceptance criteria and system requirements specifications, prioritizes backlog, develops and maintain technical product documentation, and supports product lifecycle including monitoring end of life (EOL) and developing replacement components when needed.
Product Backlog and Requirements Definition: DISCOVER what to create
- Understands and can communicate product vision, strategy and roadmap for their respective product segment(s). Partners with Product Manager in defining a roadmap for the product segment.
- Support product managers in requirements gathering effort consulting with customers and other stakeholders. Researches and comprehends customer’s business to enable innovation of product and solution creation before customers even know they have a need. Along with Product Architect, provides technical hardware and software guidance into critical design options for requirements and implementation.
- Works diligently to scope product requirements, ensuring that each requirement provides high value and meets customer and industry innovation needs. Defines product specifications and story details including detailed, testable acceptance criteria with support from development team and other stakeholders.
- Elicits questions and provide answers to Agile development team about specific product feature details. Owns responsibility for making and standing by prompt decisions on product feature requirements consulting with Product Manager when required.
- Contributes to the definition and prioritization of the backlog. Bugs and user story backlog is reviewed timely and maintained in priority order (including regression bugs). Bugs and stories are grouped and aligned with other features being implemented in same functional area when possible to maximize work efficiency.
- Takes a leadership role and owns the investigation for reported product issues to define path for implementing a solution. Defines acceptance criteria for bugs to ensure definition of done is clear. Uses the product actively like a customer to truly understand what additional updates/bug fixes drive value.
Develop Product Solution
- Gains agreement and commitment with Agile team on what will be delivered by the end of the sprint and the definition of done.
- Leads design meetings with the Agile development team, explains product requirements; the big picture reasons for the requirements and specifically how these requirements impact the customers’ operation and experience. Evaluates tradeoffs in design options with focus on overall software lifecycle cost.
- Regression test cases are clear and complete to enable path toward automation
- Maintains clear and concise Technical Product Documentation
- Creates and updates technical product /system documentation or InApp tools to define how to use, support and maintain the product for both customers and internal stakeholders
- Maintains list of supported interfaces for your product segment including any exceptions
- Documents stories and corrected bugs in release notes and appropriate release checklists.
- Generates patent related documentation
- Accountable to ensure delivered products are of high quality and proven to meet or exceed defined acceptance criteria.
- Attends team iteration demos to observe team progress, provide feedback and close user stories and bugs.
- Prepares and presents team progress at bi-weekly System Demos showcasing new product features; capturing customer and team feedback through copasetic notetaking to identify product improvements and possibly new ideas and features.
- Actively collaborates and works with Marketing, Customer Success and Tech Support to provide training material and to promote new enhancements so 100% of customers are aware of release contents.
- Collaborates with functional manager to provide feedback on team performance.
Deploy and Measure Team Effectiveness
- Monitor and measure individual and overall product team compliance with SEV defect, 8D and high priority bug SLAs including a relentless view on improving product quality
- Oversees and ensures that the functions of the Product Owner and Senior Product Owner are efficiently and effectively executed including defining success criteria and measuring to it.
- Set stretch goals and measurement methods to drive team to high levels of attainment. Maximize the effectiveness and measure your success through independent initiative and achievement of individual goals and team PI objective results (both development team and product management teams)
- Reflect and take responsibility to learn from failures to drive a culture of continuous improvement
- Measure and report performance to overall Wi-Tronix product KPIs and to defined product SLI/SLO/SLA metrics – Be able to answer the question: “Is the product working to our expectations?”
What will you need?
- BS Engineering Degree or relevant experience
- Master’s Degree in Product Leadership, Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or an equivalent in work experience preferred
- 5+ years in a product owner role
- Domain knowledge (IOT, rail, and/or transportation)
- 2+ years experience leading product owners as a team lead or manager – desired
- Product Management or Product Owner training / Certification (i.e. CSPO/PSPO) – desired
- SAFe PM/PO Certified – desired
- Tech savvy orientation
