Job Title: Senior People & Culture Manager
Salary Range: $80,000 – $90,000
Reports to: Director of Finance & Administration
Starting: September 2022
Status: Full Time (40 hours/week)

Position:Generation Hope’s first Senior People & Culture Manager will work as part of our Operations team
reporting to our Director of Finance & Administration. The Senior People & Culture Manager will build a
best-practice, effective, and inclusive people operations function focused on ensuring that Generation

Hope stays a dream place to work as we grow. This includes planning our annual retreats, keeping our policies up to date, supporting the organization to maintain a diverse and inclusive culture, and ensuring that everyone on the team feels supported to bring their best every day. This person will work closely with the Director of Finance & Administration, Chief Operating Officer, and CEO to drive forward initiatives that make us a better organization – from building a diverse team, to developing leaders, to
driving employee engagement while keeping us accountable and holding us to our values.

Responsibilities:

● Work closely with other members of the Operations team to build, document and refine programs and processes that are equitable and legally compliant
● Work with Generation Hope senior management to understand the organization’s trajectory and determine People needs
● Leverage data to build, manage, and strengthen every part of Generation Hope’s offerings including employee engagement, performance, career development, promotions, etc. Maintain
appropriate and accurate data, develop and maintain reports, and respond to audits and surveys including benefits and agency filings.
● Support performance review cycles and project-management strategies to help the organization work more efficiently as we grow and other projects as needed
● Provide support to team members and leaders across departments to help foster a work environment that is aligned with our core values and serve as a sounding board for our team when needed including coaching managers to proactively lead their teams and providing relevant advice and guidance on human resources related topics
● Lead hiring processes including creating hiring timelines for new positions, working with departments to ensure timelines are executed and deadlines are met, enhancing all hiring tools and templates to ensure consistency and an inclusive candidate experience
● Refine, streamline, and lead our onboarding process to ensure new staff members are brought onto the team efficiently and hit the ground running including tracking of offers, completion of onboarding process, setting up required training, and liaising with payroll/accounting team
● Conduct the off-boarding activities including exit interviews and assisting with COBRA inquiries
● Ensure data integrity and be responsible for the care of confidential information being accurately captured as well as manage People record retention activities including physical and electronic files
● Ensure organization is compliant, including responding to employment verifications and processing unemployment claims. Work with internal and external contact to manage workers compensation documentation and file sharing.
● Develop a benefit and wellness plan and initiatives and partner with the Operations team to deploy programs. Work with the benefits brokers and vendors to ensure proper processing of employee data and file feeds related to benefit-related changes and benefit portals. Responsible for deploying open enrollment and managing life events processes.
● Plan retreats to bring our staff together for team building, planning, and strategizing and lead our social activities throughout the year including birthday celebrations, life milestones, fun monthly staff bonding, games, etc.
● Manage our professional development budget, ensuring it was well allocated with guidelines for
its use and that team members are fully utilizing professional development opportunities

● Identify and organize training across our organization on self development, leadership, management, anti-racism – or any other area you feel we can grow
● Lead and manage the employee relations function and keep a pulse on employee sentiment including instituting regular employee communications, overseeing the staff meeting schedule, etc. Manage the implementation of employee engagement surveys, present findings to staff and leadership, and develop action plans to improve priority areas of concern
● Stay current on research, best practices and regulatory updates summarizing findings and recommendations for enhancing current processes and practices
● Support the COO in leading the Race Equity Working Group and ensuring Generation Hope’s commitment to and progress towards its Race Equity Blueprint
● Maintain a global diversity calendar (Days of Acknowledgement, key actions, promotions, and deliverables).
● Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
● Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to Generation Hope’s mission.
● Bachelor’s degree required in human resources, organizational development, business management, communications, political science, or related degree
● 3-5 years of experience as an HR professional; prior experience in nonprofit environment is a plus
● At least 2 years of experience managing all aspects of employee relations with proven experience in conflict resolution and management practices
● Have a foundational and practical understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion
● Develop solutions based on data and be willing to iterate and optimize over time
● Demonstrated ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with leaders and team members
● Exceptional coaching, facilitation, and presentation skills
● Track record of integrity and management of confidential information
● Ability to drive results and set priorities independently
● Experience planning and delivering programs to positively impact change management
● Knowledge of compliance regulations, employment law, and industry best practices; SHRM certification is a plus
● Experience with benefits management and open enrollment activities is required
● Must have current and relevant knowledge of workplace regulations with the initiative to continue to stay educated on company policies as well as local, state and federal employment regulations
● Experience and capacity to handle sensitive information with attention to detail and compliance is required
● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is required
● Understanding of current employment processes and requirements as it relates to hiring, benefit administration and record keeping.
● Personal and professional commitment to understanding and dismantling systemic and institutional racism

Generation Hope is working fully remote now due to COVID-19 and even when we resume normal operations, we will have a hybrid remote and in-office work model.
