Summary

The Senior Manager of People Operations will help us grow and manage a diverse range of human resources programs, with a focus on managing the operational aspects of the employee life-cycle, while demonstrating best practices and upholding the Wikimedia Foundation’s values. The position is full time.

You are responsible for:

  • Provide strategic thought partnership with a process and data driven mindset
  • Lead and project manage as needed for new programs, roll out of future HRIS functions, as well as ongoing vendor management
  • Manage and individually contribute to the compensation and analytics areas
  • Assist in managing hire to retire employee life-cycle processes, working with Payroll as needed
  • Execute and contribute to the development and iteration of our organizational policies and practices
  • Manage the international worker experience, immigration alongside outside counsel as necessary, and vendor management
  • Advise on employee life-cycle processes for staff and cross-functional partners
  • Cross-train, along with other members in T&C, in multiple HR functions, to ensure resilience of service to staff & leadership. Serve as a secondary support for T&C related committees, including diversity, career pathing, performance, engagement, etc. as needed
  • Partner cross-functionally with other members of the T&C function such as Recruiting, D&I, and Learning & Development

Skills and Experience:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in HR with experience managing a team, ideally for an international organization
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience in HR, Psychology, Communications or related field
  • Proven track record to partner cross-functionally and build consensus within a team
  • Strong experience in global compensation and analytics
  • Experience directly supporting a global organization in 10+ countries around the world with direct knowledge of employment practices, labor laws, etc.
  • Experience managing operational transactions at scale within SLAs
  • Broad overall HR background, including experience in as many HR subject areas as possible (the more the merrier)
  • Proven track record of handling confidential/sensitive information with grace and care
  • Understanding of US immigration, ideally with 1 year experience in visa processing
  • Excellent demonstrated project management experience
  • Strong attention to detail, and proven track record of meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, including being adaptable to work with a variety of personalities and nationalities
  • Ability to work within a digital decentralized organization
  • Ability to work in an open and collaborative environment, while respecting HR confidentiality
  • Sense of humor is always valued!

  • Experience in a non-profit environment
  • Experience with Namely HRIS & payroll
  • International time zone and virtual community experience
  • Strong desire to learn and be part of free access and open source movement
