GoPro is seeking a top tier candidate for the Senior Manager ODM/JDM Programs role. This position will be responsible for ramping new products with our offshore manufacturing partners. This role will work with cross-functional teams ensure detailed development plans including capacity and ramp, material readiness and line qualification are in place. This role will then manage progress to those plans to ensure an on-time, with high yield and efficiencies, ramp before handing over to the Operations Sustaining Team.

What You Will Do

  • This individual will be responsible for the coordination of all NPI builds at offshore EMS partners
  • This position will be the primary Operations contact for the Product Development team during all development phases to ensure new designs are ready for volume production from a documentation, manufacturability, testability and cost standpoint
  • Working with our SQE team, this individual will develop long-term supplier performance expectations and manage the supplier to improve their performance and time-to-market to reduce overall cost of ownership
  • This individual will have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and interact with multiple levels of management, both internal and external, to achieve goals
  • The ideal candidate should be comfortable working across multiple disciplines and all levels of the organization
  • Must have a commitment to do everything possible to ensure the team’s success, as well as the flexibility to quickly re-direct efforts based on new information
  • Position requires exceptional organizational and communication skills in an individual that is self-directed and capable of meeting aggressive schedules
  • Travel to Asia is required (up to 20%) as well as working outside normal work hours due to location in Asia of GoPro EMS partners
  • Develop detailed plans for new products and lead internal and EMS teams in planning and executing development builds, while ensuring readiness for mass production which will include schedule, capacity, material availability, quality issues, and product updates
  • Ensure each level of the gate review is ready for next level prior to approving; primary focus on documentation, cost, AML and test
  • Coordinate and drive Engineering teams to ensure products are optimized for cost, manufacturability, testability, supply chain flexibility, and efficiency
  • Assess, analyze, consolidate, and communicate risk and status clearly and succinctly to management on a weekly basis
  • Manage all operations-related communications, upward and downward through the organization; escalate key issues and present options for resolution to the executive team
  • Identify opportunities for NPI business process improvements and drive implementation
  • Ensure processes and procedures related to NPI are in place and reflect best in class practices
  • Manage a successful handoff to sustaining team

Skills We’re Excited About

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain Management or related field
  • Ten years of experience in high volume manufacturing operations in an outsourced environment
  • Experience in large, complex project transitions involving line setup, capacity planning, yield improvement, etc.
  • Direct experience either working at or with Tier 1 EMS Partners
  • Working knowledge of PCBA assembly, product assembly, and product manufacturing test
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams in a consumer electronics company with strong problem solving skills
  • Strong technical background and proven ability to drive design and assembly issues to closure in a time-sensitive environment
  • Ability to understand mechanical/electrical technical drawings
  • Ability to interface effectively across organizational and geographic boundaries
  • Strong interpersonal and planning skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with engineers and all levels of management
  • Demonstrated effective communication, presentation, negotiation, planning, organization and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and proven ability to achieve results in a fast moving, dynamic environment
  • Highly proficient with Excel and related Microsoft Products
  • Fluent in English
  • Fluent in Mandarin (Desired)
  • Experience working with Arena or Agile PLM (Desired)
  • Experience working with ERP systems (Desired)
  • Knowledge and experience with continuous improvement and six-sigma methodologies (Desired)
  • Negotiation experience with global suppliers (Desired)
  • ISO9000 familiarity
