Description- Peer Health Exchange (PHE) is a national non-profit organization that builds healthier communities with young people. Together, we create education opportunities for peers to share the tools and resources young people need to make healthy decisions. Peer Health Exchange with our partners, will advance health equity and improve health outcomes for young people in under-resourced communities. Since 2003, we have trained more than 15,000 college students to deliver health education to over 188,000 high school-aged young people in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, the San Francisco Bay Area, Denver, Dallas, Detroit, Santa Fe, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Richmond, Roanoke, Charleston, and Stockton, California. All PHE staff are currently temporarily remote due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the Senior Manager, Institutional Giving you will work closely with the AVP, Institutional Giving in raising institutional revenue and building our grants strategy. This will include researching and writing compelling proposals, executing external communication strategies, and overseeing data and knowledge management systems. You will report directly to the Assistant Vice President, Institutional Giving. This is a full-time, salaried position based in our New York, NY office. All PHE staff are currently temporarily remote due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here’s what you will do as part of our team:

80% – Grants Portfolio and Pipeline Management

  • Accountable for total pipeline of approximately $1m by reviewing and monitoring fundraising performance against goals on an ongoing basis, directly responsible for raising approximately $400-$500K from grants
  • Develop and build a giving portfolio of foundations by conducting research to identify prospective donors, preparing compelling letters of inquiry, grant proposals and reports, and building strong relationships with foundation staff
  • Oversee and strengthen donor data and knowledge management systems for prospecting, research, pipeline development, stewardship, and follow up
  • Work closely with PHE’s program teams to understand and be able to best represent PHE’s latest work and impact

20% Staff Management

  •  Ensure that all direct reports are aligned and support PHE’s diversity, equity, and inclusion goals and priorities
  • Manage and develop direct reports (Manager, Institutional Giving) to a sustained high level of performance through coaching, mentorship, etc. to ensure that they are constantly acquiring new skills, as well as enhancing and growing their current skills
  • Create and implement effective and relevant staff onboarding and training in conjunction with other departments
  • Exemplify to PHE’s core values and advance PHE’s vision for health equity in all aspects of our work, internally and externally

What you’ll bring to the table:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate a strong passion for PHE’s mission to build healthier communities with young people; strong alignment with PHE’s core values of Health Equity, Commitment, Communication, Agency, and Impact
  • Centers youth inclusion, community partnership, and equity work visibly, broadly, in action in part through deep listening and hearing with a lens of inclusion
  • 5 years of fundraising experience in a nonprofit development/fundraising support capacity with demonstrated experience successfully receiving grant funding
  • 1-2 years of management experience
  • Understanding of development practices including a working knowledge of donor relations
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Experience with leading or participating in external donor meetings
  • Experience with prospect and donor management in Salesforce
