Position: Senior Manager, Development and Operations
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract type: 1-year contract, with potential for renewal
Start date: As soon as possible
Location: Anywhere in Canada
Reports to: Director, Development and Operations
Closing date: June 26, 2022 at 11:59 Eastern
Salary: $72,000 + $50/month mobile stipend
Benefits: Health & Dental Benefits provided after 3 months’ probation
Vacation: Three weeks (15 days) paid vacation per calendar year, prorated for part years

All candidates must be legally able to work in Canada and available for occasional travel domestically and internationally. Candidates must be available for occasional evenings and weekends. Lieu time off is provided for time worked outside of business hours.

As a result of COVID-19, Fora employees are currently working from home. We offer flexible hours and recognize that care work, health and mental health must be respected to have an effective team. While working from home due to the ongoing pandemic, a monthly stipend to cover Wi-Fi expenses is made available to staff.
Position Summary:
Fora is seeking a Senior Manager, Development and Operations responsible for the strategy, oversight and execution of the organization’s fundraising and operations. With one direct report, the Senior Manager will identify new partnerships, manage current partnerships, lead the social enterprise and oversee operational support of the organization. Working closely with the Director, Development and Operations, this person will work across the organization’s programs, activities and stakeholders to promote a healthy funding portfolio and operational strategy to drive impact at Fora.
The Senior Manager, Development and Operations plays a vital role in holding relationships with Fora community members; the successful candidate should be comfortable communicating about a broad diversity of policy topics, including gender equality, equity, economic inclusion, and the rights of young women and gender-diverse leaders. They should bring experience and/or familiarity with how these issues affect young women around the world. This position is ideally suited for a self-starter and strategic thinker with strong writing and relationship management skills.
The successful candidate is also a positive and outgoing individual who is as comfortable working independently as being a collaborative team player. They receive feedback with openness and willingness to adapt, learn and grow. An independent learner, this individual takes initiative as needed.
The Senior Manager of Development and Operations’ main responsibilities include:
Fund Development
- Implementation and oversight of the fundraising strategy and development of next year’s strategy
- Manage key relationships with corporate donors, family foundations, and major donors
- Lead the development of the organization’s monthly giving and major donor program
- Research and write proposals for corporate and institutional funders
- Evaluate and report regularly to the CEO and Resource Development Committee on fundraising progress
- Identify corporate prospects for the organization’s fundraising priorities
- Develop and pitch proposals
- Negotiate and draft agreements
- Develop and submit timely reports
- Implement stewardship and prospecting strategies across all donor audiences
- Organize Fora fundraising events
- Represent Fora at corporate events, on panels, and at conferences
Social Enterprise
- Oversee the sales process and engage in sales conversations as needed
- Lead on promotion strategy for Elevate by Fora
- Facilitate training sessions as needed
Operations
- Identify Fora’s operational priorities
- Monthly expense management and tracking
- Lead on the creation of new office systems and processes to promote efficiencies, ensure current ones are being followed
- Oversee Salesforce integration process
All team members also:
• Participate and play an active role in all Fora programs’ external events
• Occasionally participate in Fora programs’ workshops and other internal events
• Assist in the preparation of cross-team reports and communications materials
• Contribute to the organizational strategic planning, annual planning, etc.
• Other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- 4-5 years of fundraising experience; Experience with social enterprise development a plus
- 5-plus years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function
- 2+ years of experience managing people, with a proven ability to project manage and lead with empathy
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with a proven ability to influence
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent strategic planning and implementation skills
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable, work independently and lead strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and tight timelines
- Highly independent, highly motivated self-starter
- A team player who is willing and ready to support the team when needed
- Solutions-oriented and can troubleshoot day-to-day issues as they arise, whether logistical or interpersonal in nature
- Comfort working with Microsoft Office, Slack and other digital tools to maintain clear and organized documentation and data management
- Flexibility to travel occasionally within Canada and internationally
- Committed to feminist values with an understanding of how diverse women experience marginalization differently
- Sensitivity working with young women (ages 18-25) from a diversity of communities around the globe
