About the role

Derby Law School is seeking to recruit a solicitor to join us as a Senior Lecturer to primarily supervise students within the Student Legal Advice Centre’s Immigration Clinic and as part of the supervision responsibilities, provide extra-curricular teaching and training to our students who volunteer in the Centre’s Immigration Clinic.

This role will appeal to an experienced legal practitioner with expertise in immigration law, supervisory experience and a commitment to improving access to justice. Previous experience in Higher Education clinic setting is desirable but not essential.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Clinical supervision;

• Teaching and training in Clinical Legal Education and specifically immigration law;

• Administration;

• Developing professional relationships and partnering

This is a funded post.

This is a 0.6 FTE role (3 days per week)

£45,585 per annum, pro rata

Please note that unfortunately, this role will not attract sufficient points to obtain a sponsored Skilled Worker visa under the UK Visas & Immigration points-based immigration system; however, applications are welcome from candidates who do not currently have the right to work in the UK, but who would be eligible to obtain a valid visa via another route.
