Full-Time Senior iOS Developer

Teleport – Posted by evanhourigan Anywhere

Job Description

About the company
Teleport is a rideshare application built on an open protocol that enables different companies, drivers, and riders to work together. By utilizing a network of local, lean rideshare companies, drivers earn more and riders pay less, while the surplus stays within local economies. To ensure a safe and fair system, Teleport’s protocol uses blockchain technology to give network participants a meaningful say in governance. Our system has already been tested in Lisbon and Miami, and we’re preparing for an imminent launch in multiple US locations.
Teleport’s team includes experienced operators, designers, and engineers who have worked on distributed protocols, consumer products, games, and mobile applications at companies such as Dropbox, Amazon, Uber, Coinbase, Nextdoor, and Cruise. Our investors include some of Uber’s earliest employees and the founders of billion-dollar marketplace corporations.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced iOS engineer to take over as the primary owner of our iOS app. In this role, you will guide the technical direction for our mobile app strategy, help build the team, and provide leadership to future hires as we grow. The ideal candidate is passionate and curious about software engineering, eager to expand their skills, and grow in their career. During the interview process, you’ll have ample time to speak with the core builders and designers of the protocol and ask questions about what we are building and how we are building it. We want someone who believes in what we are doing and is excited to be part of a groundbreaking company that is poised to transform the rideshare industry and potentially other marketplaces. If this sounds like you, we’re excited to meet you!

You might be a good fit for the role if:

      • You have 6+ years of professional experience building mobile apps, with at least 4 of those years working on iOS including meaningful work with Swift and SwiftUI.
      • You have a strong product sense and passion for iOS UI and UX product development.
      • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with Product Management, Design, and other engineers (particularly iOS) in a cross-functional team.
      • You’re passionate about continuous learning and innovation in the mobile industry, and keep up to date with evolving best practices and trends.
      • You have sound engineering and coding skills, and can make good calls regarding when to use iOS-provided vs custom or third-party components.
      • You have strong technical communication skills that work well in a remote and asynchronous environment.
      • You are a team player, and are excited to collaborate with others in an agile team environment.
      • You have good instincts for simplifying and breaking up larger pieces of work into deliverable stories.
      • You are comfortable with the ambiguity and fast pace of a startup environment.
      • You have a strong working proficiency in English

What you will be doing:

      • Building Teleport’s user-facing mobile apps for riders and drivers.
      • Taking ownership of the iOS codebase.
      • Collaborating with our product owners to ensure the upcoming work makes sense and directly helps us win.
      • Working closely with our designer to refine the UX in regards to any technical constraints.
      • Building subsystems into the apps that allow us to track and monitor app performance, user behavior, and gather vital rideshare-specific data to improve our location search and mapping capabilities.
      • Contributing to the API design for talking to the Teleport backend, and building native Swift libraries for communicating with them.
      • Identifying any areas that can be improved and prioritize delivering working software.
      • Helping us to build the team as we grow, and provide leadership to future hires.

What onboarding looks like:

      • You’ll commit useful fixes and improvements to the iOS code within days.
      • Implement new product features in the first weeks.
      • Discuss our technology and strategy with the team on a regular basis.
      • Bring fresh ideas and suggestions to our technical and product roadmaps.

Compensation and benefits:

      • Teleport’s total compensation packages include a competitive mix of salary and equity.
      • A combination of paid time off, sick leave, and flexible work arrangements that allow you to manage your time effectively and balance your work and personal commitments.
      • 100% remote; we encourage you to create the work environment that you thrive in.
      • World class health coverage and an HSA available for certain plans.
      • A generous 401k match.
