POSITION SUMMARY (“What are we looking for?”)
We have an exciting new position as a full-time Sr. Innovation Manager, reporting directly to the CMO and working closely with the VP of Product at The Honest Kitchen. This role is located at our San Diego, CA head office, but we are open to remote work! You will be responsible for setting the overall innovation strategy for the brand, starting from gathering consumer insights, to concept development, all the way through to commercialization.  This position is part of a cross-functional team that owns bringing new products to market and continually improving and evolving the existing portfolio.
Day to day, you’ll be staying on top of consumer trends, analyzing market data, connecting directly with our consumers, and ensuring the innovation roadmap best delivers against our business objectives. You’ll translate “ideas” into tangible concepts that can be validated with consumers for fit and size. You will then take those concepts and position them as actionable projects that you will lead through the stage gate process, working across the organization to validate and then launch.
SCOPE OF POSITION
  • Champion the brand’s purpose by bringing healthy products to market that put pets on the path to good health
  • Be the voice of the consumer, leveraging insights to shape the innovation roadmap
  • Be on top of market trends, emerging ingredients and formats, and overall consumer needs.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to turn ideas into reality.
  • Develop a 3-year innovation roadmap that delivers incremental and profitable growth for the business
  • Review existing portfolio and look for ways to drive product improvements
  • Develop solid business cases for all innovation, looking at financials and growth assumptions and evolving and sharpening the thinking as the projects move through the Stage-Gate process.
  • Working with the Marketing Team, design the launch plans for all new innovations, including the category story and customer selling decks.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (“What are we looking for?”)
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years’ experience in Marketing roles; with at least 3-5 years’ experience in direct Innovation roles
  • Experience working in CPG; Pet Food experience a big plus
  • Experience leading an organization through a Stage-Gate Process
  • Strong analytical, planning, and project management skills – you love to dig into the data and lead a team through projects.
  • Strong written, presentation, and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • You are a strategic thinker with a proactive mindset
  • Proven track record in balancing immediate and long-term priorities
  • You are comfortable tackling a new problem or situation without all the information
  • You are highly performance and results-driven and want to take on a high level of responsibility and work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

The salary range for this role is $95,000 – $130,000/annually.
