Reporting to the Director, Creative Services and Strategy and working within a creative team composed of graphic design, video, creative writing/editing team members the Senior Graphic Designer will strive to drive up standards of creativity through the various disciplines of graphic design, as well as oversee all design projects, from conception to delivery, reviewing and providing feedback on the work generated to ensure high quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Brainstorm, design, and develop artwork by providing creative solutions to initiatives that support our internal and external stakeholders (this includes complex visual systems for digital, print and online, publications, signage, emails, and social media content)
  • Supervise, guide and provide feedback to direct reports
  • Maintain brand consistency throughout all projects by use of fonts, logos, colours and assets, supporting the evolution of the TIFF aesthetic
  • Use brand guidelines to make decisions, seeking supervisor input if there is ambiguity
  • Manage assigned resources to meet customer needs and production demands
  • Schedule and complete all required tasks, preparing artwork for output for required media, and maintain orderly job files for all project materials executing from start to finish, including archiving
  • Manage multiple projects at once with varying timelines
  • Monitor costs and expenses quarterly against annual plan
  • Use team efforts to maintain and improve relationships with existing internal and external stakeholders
  • Liaise with external vendors (e.g. printers, photographers) and other suppliers as required
  • Present artwork and concepts to all levels of the organization.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of graphic design experience
  • Experience with leading a Design team at either an in-house or creative agency
  • Adept at interpreting creative requests with excellent critical thinking, planning, problem-solving and organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Skilled knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, InCopy), Photoshop, Illustrator and fonts used in design programs
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suites, Trello and GoProof
  • Motion design experience is an asset
  • Understanding of basic marketing principles and tactics
  • Verbally communicates in a professional manner
  • Ability to handle multiple projects effectively, accurately and in a timely manner
  • Ability to present mock-ups and artwork to key stakeholders
  • A positive attitude, and a team player able to motivate others
  • Keeps up-to-date with industry developments
  • Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekend, when required
