Full-Time Senior Global Sourcing Manager

Job Description

Owl Labs is seeking a Senior Global Sourcing Manager to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a hyper growth start-up at an early stage. The Senior Global Sourcing Manager will be responsible for developing the strategy and executing the tactics that ensure Owl Labs’ manufacturing lines are building finished goods without interruption. Your focus will be on working with internal stakeholders as well as external vendors to negotiate component pricing, delivery planning as well as risk mitigation tactics that yield a stable manufacturing supply chain. You will work closely with the development teams to provide feedback on component level decisions in service of yielding a minimum sourcing risk solution.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain relationships with critical commodities.
  • Develop and execute a global sourcing strategy that effectively mitigates risk and consistently exceeds on quality, delivery, cost, and technology objectives.
  • Negotiate component pricing to drive product margin improvements.
  • Work closely with our China sourcing team to stay ahead of supply chain interruptions.
  • You will own the component supply risk for each component in the product BOM across all products.
  • You will collaborate with engineering and architecture teams for NPI development strategy and implementation, optimizing design/materials selection to drive competitive cost, industry leading quality, and continuity of predictable supply.
  • Be the component supplier liaison to the engineering team during the NPI process helping to establish relationships with new component vendors.
  • Drive engineering focus to critical components and advocate for risk mitigating options.
  • Utilize KPIs to monitor and report on on-going supplier performance.
  • Support operations in resolving chronic supplier performance problems and if necessary revise supplier strategies and/or lead projects to exit poor performing suppliers.
  • Monitor new product development, commodity and market trends to determine required long-term supply base capacities and capabilities and take proactive action to ensure capacities and capabilities are readily available as needed.
  • Own material management of our risk-buy component buffers.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills required.

 

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience managing complex electrical or electromechanical assemblies.
  • BS/BA in Operations, Engineering, Business, Mathematics or a related field.
  • Excellent Excel (Google Sheets) skills.
  • Experience with Netsuite.
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior organization & attention to detail. Ability to multi-task and synthesize multiple perspectives to get the most important thing done.
  • Independent, self-starter – able to set agenda and drive progress with little direction.
  • Energetic can-do attitude and excellent leadership skills. Collaboration is exciting to you and you enjoy understanding the perspectives of others.

Owl Labs is over 40% remote and headquarters are based in Boston, MA. This role can be either an on-site or remote position. Please specify in your application. Our team is currently working 100% remote due to COVID-19.
