Location

 

This position is located at the Wellington Webb Building, located at 201 W Colfax Ave. Denver, CO 80202. The Webb building is currently going through construction, so you may also work from Republic Plaza located at 370 17th St. Denver, CO, 80202 during construction periods.

 

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position, you can expect to work Monday through Friday, in office 3 days per week, and off-site 2 days per week. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

 

 

What You’ll Do

As the Senior GIS Analyst, you will provide enterprise-wide GIS solutions using the latest ESRI technology and techniques.  This work is essential to the Department to inform important citywide policy decisions; process and regulatory improvements; and educating and engaging our stakeholders in conversations about trends, opportunities, and concerns in our community.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate GIS with other systems and data sources, enhancing overall data utility and interpretation
  • Creates, compiles, edits, integrates, digitizes, and updates GIS data from many sources
  • Works with the GIS Supervisor in the development and maintenance of base maps, data layers, programs, models, and system integrations relating to Community Development functions
  • Perform advanced spatial analyses and modeling to support planning and decision-making processes.
  • Collecting and researching necessary information/data or methods
  • Generating GIS mapping or databases to convey results of analysis and exploring new methods of representing data to the CPD team, the public and other audiences
  • Reads maps, interprets maps, and uses coordinate systems to position and process geographic information such as existing land uses, building coverage/setbacks, and tree canopy
  • Prepares reports, maps and charts of data to the public, City Council, and other departments and agencies
  • Stay abreast of the latest GIS technologies and methodologies, incorporating them into departmental practices

 

About You

 

Our ideal candidate will have some or all of the following skills and experience:

  • Proficient in ESRI’s ArcGIS suite, including ArcGIS Pro
  • Experience with ArcSDE (Enterprise Geodatabases) and editing in a multi-user versioned environment; Experience with ArcGIS Online (AGOL), Web Apps, Experience Builder, AGOL Dashboards, and Storymaps
  • Experience with conducting complex spatial analysis via geoprocessing tools
  • Strong data management and problem solving skills – can envision various outcomes and plan accordingly to reduce project risk and issues
  • Experience developing and maintaining Python scripts using ArcPy and pandas for automating GIS processes, enhancing data workflows, and improving efficiency. Experience with Excel and tabular data analysis
  • Experience with documenting technical information and with creating quality control methods to improve data integrity, such as topology
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively – verbally and in writing
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized

 

Required Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Education requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Urban Planning, Engineering, GIS, Geology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Cartography, Landscape Architecture, Remote Sensing or a related field
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of professional hands-on GIS analyst experience
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
