Location 

 

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position you can expect to work 3 days per week on site at Denver International Airport, 8500 Pena Blvd. Denver, CO 80249. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

 

What You’ll Do

Operating and Maintenance Budget Analyst:

 

Under the supervision of the O&M Budget Manager, you will work with agency leaders to design, direct, implement, and maintain a $650 million operational budget. Candidates will be the subject matter experts capable of making critical reports to DEN leadership. Each assigned project will require a broad array of expertise and professionalism as the candidate completes regular analyses.

 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Advise on the development and monitoring of the annual operating budget, which will include finding synergies, evaluating agency budget requests, and producing reports for leadership
  • Provide customer service and support to assigned divisions
  • Conduct monthly budget execution analyses and develop an annual forecast, which will include large items, computing burn rates, and working with individual sections to validate
  • Using financial models, investigate budget overrun requests and make recommendations
  • Analyze and perform due diligence on all personnel requests
  • Incorporate continuous improvement principles such as, but not limited to developing and maintaining policy and procedure manuals, delivering inside and outside organization training, as well as serving as a go-to subject matter expert for DEN in operational resource planning
  • Utilize information technology systems for operational resource planning
  • Keep abreast of activities and personnel within assigned divisions and inform management of any issues
  • Provide broad-based, strategic perspective to operational resource planning

 

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:​

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Technical skills in Excel and ERP or financial software
  • Experience performing analysis of a strategic, financial, or operational nature and formulating approaches to address identified issues
  • Collaborative and knowledgeable in budgeting and accounting for large government agencies
  • Self-starter with financial analysis professional with knowledge of, and interest in managing financial, strategic and risk analysis
  • Familiarity with airport management or airline industry, and/or government experience is helpful (but not required)

 

Required Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Education requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of professional level experience researching, analyzing, calculating, and compiling financial data, debt or portfolio administration, or financial statistical analysis’
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted
  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for experience requirements
