Job Description

Job title: Senior Finance and Operations Manager
Reports to: Head of Finance
Direct reports: 1 (Potentially)
Location: London or Greater Manchester, Hybrid working 40% in the office
Salary: £44,000 – £48,000 (London) or £42,000 – £46,000 (Greater Manchester)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Purpose of the role:
Breaking Barriers is a fast paced, agile organisation that has grown quickly and is continuing to expand. We are looking for someone who has experience of both Management and Financial accounting to support the charity’s growth, and to apply appropriate lean financial processes as and when required. However, if you have significant experience in one over the other, please do still apply. You will succeed in this role if you are able to understand complex information quickly, respond well to a busy work schedule and are willing to undertake a range of tasks at different levels (from operational to strategic) to a high degree of accuracy. This is a new role and is an expansion to our Finance team, so that our infrastructure keeps pace with an expanding organisation.

Our team’s impact is significant for the organisation and our clients. Whether that be the distribution of funds to clients for education grants, client expense claim payments, the technology the staff use, the monthly payroll payments to staff or the provision of financial information to leadership for decision making. You will be instrumental in shaping people’s experience of Breaking Barriers, which is why we need you to share in our ethos that we are obsessed with giving the organisation and our clients what they want.

We are a finance function working for the organisation. That means we act in line with what is best for the Breaking Barriers, that we look for efficient ways of doing things and that we are innovative and open to change. You will need to be open to new processes and tasks coming your way, as with any growing charity, we are continually adapting and improving our processes to respond to need. Your responsibilities might change over time, but there’s no doubt you’ll need to be an open-minded problem solver, willing to get stuck into varied assignments.
