The Division of Digital Strategy and Innovation at the University of North Texas is responsible for leading the university in the areas of educational technology, online and blended initiatives, and digital learning research serving students and faculty both on-campus and at a distance. Digital Strategy and Innovation collaborates with faculty, staff, and students across UNT’s academic and administrative units to ensure a world-class, 21st century institution, redefining public higher education through cutting-edge experimentation where the science of learning is the fulcrum that enables innovative, omnichannel, lifelong education for the North Texas community and learners across the globe. *This position supports online education* The Senior Faculty Development Specialist performs advanced (senior-level) planning, designing, implementation and research of professional development learning solutions focused on building and enhancing both in person and online teaching. This position develops short-and long-term training goals and course development goals through meeting with DSI and Faculty Success leadership, making recommendations for course content and designing and/or developing course specific materials. This position has extensive involvement in administering the DSI sponsored leadership academies and online learning resource repository. This position will also be responsible for researching and evaluating faculty professional development programs for all instructional personnel at the University; particularly programs that enable faculty to emphasize learner-centered instruction to enhance student success. The candidate will have the vision and initiative to lead UNT faculty development in the 21st century. Job Duties Includes: - Identifies long/short-range training goals for the DSI CLEAR and Faculty Success leadership academies, designing curricula and facilitating
learning sessions. This position recommends strategies, teaching methodology, training aids, and evaluative techniques to achieve program goals. - Leads and co-authors with other researchers on research on effective online teaching and learning strategies. Researches, identifies, and
shares both internal and external professional development resources, including project managing our Academic Impressions collaboration. Serves as the primary contact for faculty seeking professional development. - Delivers, designs, and directs high quality live and recorded faculty trainings on pedagogy, best practices for online teaching, inclusive teaching
and a variety of other topics. - Collaborates with other groups at UNT to achieve a cohesive faculty development plan. These groups include but are not limited to: the Office
of Faculty Success. - Maintains an understanding of UNT’s degree programs and academic processes
- Communicates effectively with faculty, CLEAR staff, and other involved parties as appropriate on faculty development initiatives, programs, and trainings.
- Maintains an understanding of new pedagogical techniques, particularly those that include technology and digital learning tools.
- Creates and delivers a monthly Faculty Development newsletter and creates and maintains a comprehensive DSI CLEAR faculty development website
that includes a compiled calendar of all faculty development events.
Minimum Qualifications: - Ph.D. in Education or closely related field and four years experience consulting with or training college or university faculty about engaging students in learning experiences that incorporate authentic scholarly and professional learning activities or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
