Job Description
It’s an exciting time to join our Equity Diversity and Inclusion and Data Strategy teams as we begin to collect, normalize, and prepare disaggregated demographic data for big data studies, as we continue to effectively implement initiatives, processes and activities that are hinged in organizational equity, diversity & inclusion (EDI) across The Hospital for Sick Children. We are looking for an EDI Senior Data Analyst, to work within the EDI and Data Analytics teams. The successful candidate will possess extensive critical race concepts and theoretical notions, along with the ability to lead a project in the development and implementation of an employee socio-demographic survey harmonize and rationalize disparate data together for analysis and will be responsible for all aspects of data management.
A key part of this role will be to lead the project team in the development and organization of a complex project plan that supports the strategy, development and implementation of a survey of all SickKids personnel which is a key component of the EDI Environmental Scan where the resulting data will serve as a benchmark and support the understanding of EDI among SickKids staff. Full participation will provide baseline anonymized data to be available for analysis and action planning. The resulting data will inform and guide HR recruitment, strategy, succession planning, and training approaches to ensure there is fair representation of the BIPOC community across all departments, determine where some EDI demographic gaps and themes exist within the organization.
Here’s What You’ll Get To Do:
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert, supporting EDI Executive Lead and other executive leadership, to drive the priority of creating a culture of diversity, inclusion, and equity
- Lead and organize project team members to help support the work required in the development of an employee socio-demographic survey
- Identify and implement solutions and initiatives to address sensitivities around survey participation; working with Communications and Public Affairs in the Development and execution of a Communications Plan to strengthen awareness of and expectations for the survey
- Prioritization and implementation of the EDI initiatives and objectives, using project, program and change management skills to adhere to timelines.
- Identify and implement solutions and initiatives to address systemic bias and organizational barriers.
- Lead EDI data collection and analyses, including enhancing capture of EDI information from hospital personnel., including staff, faculty, physicians, surgeons, allied health professionals, students/fellows/residents, and volunteers and utilize relevant EDI survey data from partners
- Responsible for preparing and analysis of descriptive data derived from surveys.
- Develop and implement internal survey tools.
- Monitor and report on developed and implemented EDI demographics to internal and external stakeholders, including tracking and reporting of metrics, adherence to procedures etc.
- Develop and implement engagement and change management strategies with internal and external EDI partners.
- Prepare and distribute slide decks, agendas, and meeting minutes as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned within the EDI Office at SickKids.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- Minimum Master’s degree required (e.g., Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Education, Organization Development) and post-master’s degree experience would be desirable.
- Must have a proven track record of implementing an EDI strategy at a complex organization with clear evidence of impact. This includes demonstrated experience with EDI programs and projects, resources, tools, and concepts and knowledgeable in Diversity and Inclusion community considerations and familiarity with applicable legislation
- Fluent with survey design, qualitative methods, and qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
- Statistical knowledge to analyze variety of data types, with an emphasis on qualitative methods and survey data, ability to think critically and identify process improvements.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem solving, project management and organizational change management skills
- Ability to work well independently and in a collaborative team.
- Experience in healthcare, research or academic administration is an asset.
- Ability to interact with all levels of technical ability and comfortable with translating business requirements
- Self-motivated, proactive, and excellence with organizing and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills (oral, written) necessary for one on one, small group and larger group presentations. Active listening skills supporting effective engagement at all levels of the organization.
- A drive to ensure privacy and security standards are always adhered to
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS)
