POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Director of Strategy fosters shared accountability for population-level results and our strategic plan through their work to create a data-informed culture and practice within the Promise Partnership. They drive the measurement and strategy review (i.e., evaluation) plan for the Promise Partnership, and they help our team connect the various frameworks and methodologies we use to create social change. They lead a small data team, co-lead the Promise Partnership department, and align data work across the organization. The Senior Director of Strategy must be energized by helping others make sense of complexity and be excellent at building and maintaining data and strategy processes and documentation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Data-Informed Strategy Review

  1. Lead Promise Partnership Utah’s 2-times a year strategy review cycle, including co-leading the Promise Partnership Council.
  2. Lead the Data Team and others in the department to solidify and operationalize the foundational elements upon which the strategy review is built, including results frameworks, Asana portfolios, strategy documents, and all associated data and data collection efforts.

High-Level Data Strategy

  1. Work with partners and team members to make data more accessible to our many stakeholders and to integrate qualitative data (including insights from community members most impacted by our current systems) into decision-making processes.
  2. Oversee all work related to Data Sharing Agreements, Data Confidentiality Agreements, and data sharing governance and processes, including privacy.
  3. Lead or support key partnership projects related to the access and use of data to inform social change efforts.
  4. Launch and lead the Promise Partnership Council’s Community Data Governance Team.
  5. Lead or participate in other local or national data strategy opportunities.

Team Leadership

  1. Ensure proper data infrastructure management, integrity, and integration, including Tableau, PowerBi, Salesforce, Asana, SharePoint, and other applications as well as data sharing infrastructure.
  2. Co-lead the day-to-day operations of the department.
  3. Lead Data Team’s contribution to internal and external reports.
  4. Contribute to grant writing and reporting, donor cultivation, marketing efforts, advocacy efforts, presentations about our work, and other related duties as assigned.
  5. Provide training, coaching, supervision, development support, and co-facilitation support to a team of Data Specialists who focus on providing actionable, timely data to support our goals.
  6. Align work cross-departmentally with other data-related functions of the organization.

BENEFITS

This is a full-time, exempt position with full benefits. $71,000 – 88,000. Salary commensurate with experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of proven, applicable experience, at least 2 years in leadership roles, in data strategy, including analysis, reporting, and visualization.
  • Minimum 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • An understanding of the culture and realities of historically marginalized communities.
  • Speak and write fluently in English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft and Google suites, data visualization, and project management software.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends, evenings, and/or early morning work hours.
  • Ability to pass background check to hold this position.
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative data, including coaching others in its development, collection, capture, visualization, and use for understanding impact and continuous improvement.
  • We have flexible schedules and work environment but require in-office time for collaboration and relationships that drive results.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee regularly communicates with internal and external stakeholders and is required to communicate clearly, in oral and written formats and must be able to exchange accurate information. The employee must be able to transcribe, read extensively, prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer and other standard office machinery. The employee is required to regularly travel to locations outside of Utah’s Promise’s facilities to set-up and deliver presentations both (in person, in hybrid environments, and online).
