About you

You know when and how to collaborate with colleagues and can make decisions with timely research and input.

About the position

Reporting to the Vice President, Network Impact, the Senior Director, Network Impact will lead and manage key strategies for Cradle to Career Network supports and offerings to accelerate the progress of network members. The Senior Director will hold accountability for the impact of network offerings as they oversee strategies and tactics for network member engagement, activities and targeted offerings, using data and member experience to enhance and improve supports. A successful candidate will have a track record of leadership toward results, a deep customer service orientation and a commitment to solutions-focused learning and improvement.

Responsibilities and duties

Network Support Strategy

  • Deeply understand the needs of network members – especially the most advanced – and hold accountability for building this knowledge into all network offerings and supports.
  • Develops and implements the strategies for network member supports by mobilizing and supporting a team of director reports, holding fidelity to the arc of Network events including advanced partnership events, outcomes convenings, learning forums and other key Network events and Network supports. Doing so will require collaboration with leaders across the organization.
  • Identifies performance measures and monitor progress on key tactics, including adapting or refining strategy through continuous improvement.
  • Supports team in identification and implementation of high-impact network engagement and event strategies.
  • Identifies, builds and maintains relationships with national partners that can contribute to StriveTogether’s results.
  • Understands the successes and challenges of Cradle to Career Network members and uses that knowledge to inform network offerings.
  • Coordinates with Director Network Membership and Director of Impact Investment to ensure high alignment and action of network member supports.

Network Effect and Offerings

  • Holds accountability for the impact and overall integrity of targeted network offerings.
  • Provides thought partnership on network engagement strategy (e.g., webinars, convenings, topic-based supports), setting priorities and identifying resource and capacity needs for execution in service of results.
  • Provides thought partnership and oversight to team members executing network offerings, including the programmatic strategy for the annual Cradle to Career Network Convening.
  • Ensures network-facing staff have clear priorities for network engagement and collaborate effectively.
  • Holds accountability for network offerings as part of a braided support strategy for grantees.

Network Advisors

  • Co-develops the Network Advisor strategy that is deeply rooted in the diverse needs of advanced partnerships, building with both staff and feedback from network members.
  • Oversees day-to-day implementation of StriveTogether’s Network Advisor strategy, including processes for advisor engagement, data collection and mobilization of learning across the organization.
  • Manages a small Advisor portfolio, working with network members to understand their work, connect them to resources and share learning internally and across the network.
  • Convenes Network Advisors and Navigators regularly to share updates and insights from network members, connect network members to one another or relevant resources and curate rapid-cycle learning.

Leadership responsibilities

  • Model core values through your work
  • Conduct regular, scheduled team and one-on-one meetings with all direct reports to hold accountability, provide coaching, give feedback, monitor progress to individual and collective goals, hold spaces for learning, discuss professional development opportunities and collaborate on shared bodies of work
  • Conduct annual Reflection and Continuous Improvement Cycle (RCIC) review including providing a rating and recommending appropriate merit increases and mid-year RCIC review
  • Hold yourself and your team accountable for being good financial stewards, managing risk and using data as a critical input into decision-making
  • Ensure effective cross-functional collaboration between team members

Qualifications and skills

  • Eight or more years progressive leadership experience with national networks and/or place-based partnerships.
  • Experience in the social sector leadership, strong results orientation, and proven strategic development and oversight.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including using effective messaging and channels to simply communicate complex ideas.
  • Superior management skills, including influencing and mobilizing direct/indirect reports and peers.
  • Proven ability to use data for strategy development and ongoing continuous improvement.
  • Ability to establish credibility with network members and external partners as a trusted leader, thought partner and resource.
  • This position is a field position. Approximately 30-35% travel is required.
