Full-Time Senior Data Engineer

Job Description

Location: Westbrook, Maine, US / Hoofddorp, the Netherlands

As a Data Engineer on the Global Sales Analytics Team, you will be the bridge between the data warehouse and the Data Analysts helping them to achieve consistency and reliability in source data. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to experience how data is transformed into dashboards and reports, and what impact it has on business performance. You will be involved in a wide range of projects with high visibility.

We are a highly collaborative and dynamic team within a growing Global sales organization that has a direct impact on the company’s fiscal success.

We’ve recently begun the exciting journey of expanding our team globally, consolidating and standardizing data, analytics and best practices. This includes working with many other teams as we also move to a new global CRM, and data repository, Snowflake.

The team is in the process of transitioning from Lavastorm to Alteryx as our ETL tool, and uses Tableau and TableauCRM (formerly known as Salesforce Einstein Analytics) for visualization.  This is supplemented by various other applications such as Excel, Business Objects and PowerPoint.

Our team consists of Project Managers, Business Analysts, Data Engineers, Data Analysts and Visualization Specialists, and is a terrific group of individuals who love to collaborate, solve problems, share learnings and assist both each other and the many people we work with across the company. We provide information and recommendations critical to the business and strive to continuously improve. With diverse knowledge, experience and skills across our team, the whole is truly greater than the sum of its parts.

In this role:

  • You will source data from multiple places, establish and maintain data pipelines, and prepare the data that will be leveraged by our Data Analysts.
  • You will understand structural requirements and define standards for how data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed.
  • You will implement measures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility, constantly monitoring and refining the performance of data management systems.
  • You will suggest improvements in consistency and reliability of data and data usage.

What do you need to succeed:

  • You have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of coursework and experience in data engineering.
  • You have strong knowledge of data, databases, data warehousing solutions and ETL techniques.
  • You code in languages such as SQL, Java, Python or R.
  • Have experience working with Cloud technologies particularly with AWS.
  • You have built distributed and cloud-based data pipelines.
  • You understand industry standard software APIs.
  • You love processes and have a continuous improvement mindset.
  • You enjoy taking initiative and can motivate yourself well.
  • You are a fast learner and can leverage various software tools and systems.
  • You are great at collaboration and communication.
  • You have superior organizational skills, integrity, and great follow-through on tasks.
  • You inherently have excellent customer service skills.
  • You are fluent in English and can hear English across multiple accents.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake, Alteryx, Lavastorm, Salesforce and Business Objects will be an advantage.
