Marketing (Brand & Media)

The Senior Coordinator, Marketing & Promotions is responsible for supporting the development and execution of marketing plans that deliver on strategies to support TIFF’s audience engagement and revenue goals, with a focus on three key organization priorities: New Releases, TIFF Next Wave Film Festival and Festival.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing, this role is expected to coordinate across relationships with film distributors and studios by acting as a marketing and promotional partner who works with studio/distributor representatives, film publicists, related managers and other key talent stakeholders. The Senior Coordinator also works closely with TIFF’s Programming, Partnerships, and the wider Brand & Media team, including Communications, Social and Creative, to integrate campaigns and promotions. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include, but are not be limited to:

  • Develop, implement and monitor integrated marketing and promotional plans based on the priorities and plans determined by the Manager, Marketing, and in collaboration with other Brand & Media team members. Including the development of creative briefs, branding, messaging, work back schedules, email, web, and social campaigns for both in-cinema and digital TIFF Bell Lightbox promotional campaigns. 
  • In collaboration with the Communications team, support the development and implementation of publicity outreach plans for New Releases
  • Support the development of community partnerships, grassroots outreach, and influencer relationships for priority areas
  • Support in the use of TIFF’s in-cinema and digital TIFF Bell Lightbox film promotion inventory to support theatrical releases (digital signage, trailer packages, posts, marquee, pre-show, and film spotlight and shelves for digital TIFF Bell Lightbox and tiff.net)
  • Coordinate promotional relationships with key stakeholders such as film distributors, studios, publicists, and partners to ensure alignment on new release promotions
  • Assist with the development of ticketing strategies for priority areas. Track ticket sales and revenue results to monitor the effectiveness of campaigns and any needed adjustments
  • Assist with gathering and analyzing audience and marketing data to provide real-time feedback for campaign optimization, use insights to build marketing plans, and create post-mortem reports
  • For Festival, lead, manage and execute experiential promotional plans and activities. Including:
    • Working closely with the Corporate Partnerships team to build and execute Partner promotions (red carpets, experiential stunts, giveaways, etc.)
    • Brand development of assets for Festival Street and Partners
    • Managing relationships with The City, Mayor’s Office, TTC, and Police Department to ensure organizational messaging is aligned across all agencies
  • Use guidelines to make decisions, seeking supervisor input if there is ambiguity
  • Use assigned resources effectively to satisfy quality and stakeholder needs
  • Support in managing day-to-day operational expenses 
  • Support in maintaining and improving relationships with internal and external stakeholders 

CONTRACT DATES OR START DATE:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree/certificate in marketing, advertising, and/or communications preferred but not required
  • 3+ years experience, either in an agency setting with entertainment or arts clients or working in the entertainment or arts sectors 
  • Experience with the following marketing and promotional tactics:
    • Advertising (traditional, out-of-home, in-cinema)
    • Content Marketing
    • Multicultural Marketing 
    • Digital and email marketing
    • Partnership/grassroots outreach
    • Product Pricing (tickets)

Skills: 

  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Fluency in French or other languages a great asset
  • Experience working on brand, direct marketing, acquisition and loyalty marketing programs and campaigns. Ability to coordinate and support implementation of campaigns from inception to completion.
  • Experience working with creative teams and being accountable for coordinating internal resources, timelines and deliverables 
  • A strong contributor to the creative development process
  • Proficiency in systems such as Office Suite, Google Docs, Cision media monitoring, Slack messaging platform, MailChimp, and Trello are an asset
  • Social marketing and platform campaign management (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Yelp, etc.) is an asset

Effort:

  • Concentrating for prolonged periods at computer terminals
  • Working under many simultaneous deadlines

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • 9 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with more intensive schedule during Festival
  • Overtime during busy periods
