Automotive Technician
POSITION PURPOSE & SUMMARY
Perform thorough vehicle inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs. All of this should be done with Repair Revolutions core values in mind to educate and empower our customers to make informed decisions about their vehicle’s care. Communicate vehicle condition through comprehensive pictures, videos, and detailed notes.
DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
- Completes preventive maintenance schedules and repairs following applicable safety requirements and published procedures.
- Utilizes the proper tools and techniques to ensure efficient, timely, and quality repair service.
- Provides professional, timely, and courteous customer service. Explains the repair process to the customer.
- Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, including but not limited to: power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
- Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives before and after performing repairs; resets customer’s vehicle settings including radio, clock, seat position etc.
- Ensure customer vehicles are returned undamaged and in clean condition.
- Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements when performing emission related repairs.
- Maintains accurate and complete work records. Maintains customers vehicle records by thoroughly recording all services, tests and repairs performed on the vehicle. Ensures required documentation including pictures and videos of failed components are complete and communicated to service advisors.
- Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; notifying management of necessary repairs.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying shop supplies; placing orders with management when supplies are low; verifying receipt.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications; seeks appropriate guidance when meeting a challenge. Attends 40 hours of training per year.
- Completes at least 2 ASE certifications per year if master status has not been achieved. Once all ASE certifications have been obtained, technicians will renew a minimum of 2 certifications per year upon their expiration.
- Reports to management any conditions that compromise the integrity or safety of other personnel, customers, or the shop.
- Maintains a clean and organized working area and performs housekeeping tasks in the shop.
- Ensures that all equipment, materials, and areas of operation conform to health and safety regulations and requirements.
- Works safely and utilizes protective safety equipment at all times to minimize the risk of personal injury.
- Maintain professional appearance, good grooming and wear provided clean uniforms daily.

SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an automotive technician. Formal education in the automotive industry can count toward this qualification.

- Complete knowledge of all aspects of automotive and light truck repair and service including but limited to:
- on board engine computer diagnosis and repair
- vehicle safety systems diagnosis and repair including ABS and SRS
- complete HVAC system diagnosis and repair including automatic climate control
- vehicle chassis systems diagnosis and repair
- four-wheel drive and traction control systems diagnosis and repair
- all other basic repairs such as brakes, suspension, timing belts, water pumps, flush services, etc.
- Commitment to on-going education and certification
- Must have a clean driving record
- Must own and maintain a comprehensive set of tools
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Available to work approximately 40-hours per week during our general shop hours of Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM
- Can be available for after-hours calls as needed
