Full-Time Senior Analyst, Grant Compliance and Reporting

OFFICE OF SCHOOLS

Traditional 235 work days 

FTE: 1.0

Salary Range: $69,632 – $80,441

Essential Functions and Objectives:

-Primary function is to successfully develop (with the Director of Federal Programs) a systemic auditing and monitoring function aligned with best practices for all grants in DPS

-Drive implementation of that strategy including the preparation of policies, procedures and training documentation.

-Identifies regulations, award terms and implementation conditions applicable to any DPS grant, with particular emphasis in the area of federal funding requirements.

-Carries out and monitors compliance with Federal, State and District rules, regulations and/or procedures as related to data, budget and other technical areas.

-Remains abreast of developments in the fields of education, business and information processing which may have application within financial services and the school district.

-Partner with appropriate grant managers to foster understanding of requirements and monitor compliance with established procedures.

-Mentor other members of the budget/grants department in their understanding of this area of financial management.

-Grant team point person for internal/external audits of federal grants.

-Prepares or assists in preparation of various grant reports and analysis documents including project status reports, budget forecast models, board reports, budget reports, and funding/expense reports for submission to federal granting agencies.

-Partner with the financial planning and analysis team in the preparation of long term financial strategy and analysis around grants

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

 -Three (3) plus years experience increasing responsibility for auditing/monitoring for compliance, budget and other financial modeling. Ability to lead a team Self directed but able to work with a group of people.

-Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.

-Strong attention to detail.

-Effective communication skills.

-The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance.

-Work collaboratively with others on a team.

-Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and a fast-paced environment.

-Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multicultural environment with district and school leaders, faculty, staff and students.

-High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.

-Extensive knowledge of accounting and federal accounting cost principles and/or other regulatory requirements.

-Experience with auditing or compliance monitoring.

-Knowledge of federal education funding requirements.

-Demonstrated experience with variance reports, forecasting and modeling.

-Strong skill level with Excel and other Microsoft office products.

-Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.

Education Requirements:

 -Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required.

-Master’s Degree preferred.
