Full-Time Senior Analyst: ESA Climate Initiative Support
Job Description
Ocean Associates, Inc. (OAI) is seeking a candidate to assist the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Office of Protected Resources (OPR) with the implementation of
OPR’s Climate Initiative activities in order to increase national and regional climate readiness for protected species management under the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) and the Endangered Species Act (ESA). OAI supplies personnel support services on contract to government and industry clients for marine fisheries and protected species.

DUTIES:
Tasks will include:
- Assist with issuing announcement for internal funding opportunities, coordinate internal review of proposals, track progress reports, provide reporting as needed, and liaise with PR Board Chairs and funding decision makers.
- Lead coordination and execution of the project “Adapting how we make decisions under the ESA and MMPA in a climate change future with shifting ecosystem baselines”.
- Engage and collaborate with OPR and field off/center staff to implement the PR Climate Initiative Activities.
- Research and write OPR climate communication materials such as web feature stories.
- Develop and draft stories/materials for OPR & Climate Story Maps.

Location: Work may be performed offsite
Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time position with benefits. Salary: $33.00 to $37.00 per hour.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor of Science degree or higher, from an accredited college or university with a major directly related in a field of study. Three (3) years of experience in related field to the stated duties, or combination of education and experience totaling seven (7) years. Education beyond Bachelor’s degree can be substituted for experience.
- Documented evidence of education and/or experience in one of the following: environmental regulations and the Federal regulatory process; environmental sciences, biological sciences (fisheries biology/ecology; marine mammal biology/ecology; sea turtle biology/ecology; and/or marine biology/ecology), ecological risk assessment or environmental impact analysis, scientific project management.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both individually and collaboratively in a team/group setting.
- Ability to receive constructive feedback and implement appropriate action
