A key system integration engineering position has become available within the Trident Systems Project Team, that is part of the recently formed Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA), an executive agency of the Ministry of Defence. The Trident Systems Project Team requires System Integration Engineering Manager for Vanguard In-Service support.
The position provides an opportunity to develop knowledge and experience in the integration and engineering management of a significantly important defence capability. You will require strong verbal and written communication skills, be an effective manager and leader for the Strategic Weapon Enterprise. The post is responsible for a small but capable team for the delivery and control of engineering management activities and specialist engineering support services.
The System Integration Manager position available under this advert is for in-service engineering management including equipment support, test analysis and technical proficiency assurance activities onboard submarines and associated shore facilities. These activities are delivered at HMNB Clyde and HMNB Devonport.
Responsibilities
The post requires travel to point of delivery and to the United States of America, for technical and programme integration with the US Government. The respective post holder is, therefore, required to uphold strong and productive relationships with the US Government through the Polaris Sales Agreement and be the Intelligent Customer with UK Industry within the Strategic Weapon Enterprise.
Candidates will be required to demonstrate strong engineering control disciplines to include; technical documentation management, configuration management, defect analysis, design change management, and weapon system test, commissioning and analysis activities.
Please note that, due to security requirements, this post is open to sole UK Nationals ONLY. The role has a requirement of DV clearance, or a willingness to obtain a DV clearance within the first six months.
What you will be assessed against
To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:
• Level 6 qualification (e.g. BEng/BSc) in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant engineering/science, OR significant relevant experience
• Experience within complex weapon system support environment
• Membership with a relevant professional institute
• Effective management experience
• Effective leadership ability
It would benefit your application should you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
• Chartered engineer with relevant professional institute
• Awareness of Weapon, Ordnance, Munitions and Explosives (WOME)
• Understanding/experience of the integration, delivery and support of major weapons system into a submarine programme
• Microsoft Office (particularly SharePoint) capability
• Lead auditing experience
