We are currently recruiting for a Senior Solutions Architect within the Information Management & Information Technology (IM&IT) function.
You will lead the technical design of specific solutions to meet DE&S business requirements ensuring they meet agreed architectural principles and standards.
This is an exciting and diverse function that employs professionals from information management, information technology, information assurance and cyber security.
The role offers the opportunity to work within a diverse and multi-disciplined team within the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA).
This post requires pre-existing strong leadership and management skills in order to develop and maintain relationships and reputation with an operationally focused and specialist, stakeholder community. As such, this position is one of significant influence and requires an individual with the appetite for significant intellectual challenge and who is prepared to deliver leading edge technical solutions at pace.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for;
• Complete System ownership with principal accountability for ensuring the integrity and availability of network.
• Lead a team of Architects and Designers on large scale projects to ensure high quality work is delivered that meets the needs of the business and required standards.
• Develop and exploit innovative products, value for money services and technical IT solutions to meet DE&S business needs and allows integration into the IT Estate.
• Provide expert advice and guidance in the delivery of the IT Strategy and ensuring alignment with Business Strategies.
• Maintain technical knowledge to ensure IT solutions exploit the full advantages of new and innovative technologies.
• Define and create multiple options of systems solutions to inform the decision of the most effective way of meeting business needs, whilst assessing associated risks.
• Develop and present business cases and models for approval, to gain project funding and prioritisation.
• Ensure compliance between business strategies, enterprise transformation activities and technical directions, to ensure business needs are met and benefits are realised.
• Ensure Architectural activity is in accordance with legal, regulatory and other relevant legislation.
• Conduct periodic reviews of DE&S implemented solutions and recommend changes and improvements.
• Work closely with the Business Analyst teams to capture the technical requirements to support solutions design and business change.
• Contribute to the leadership of the Architectural Community.
• Recruit, motivate and develop the Systems Architects and Designers to build capability within the Function.
• Fulfil Primary Delivery Manager responsibilities for your direct reports.
To be successful in these posts you must have recent demonstrable IT architectural design experience at significant scale within a professional work environment.
This role is Reserved for Sole UK Nationals Only & will be expected to gain DV clearance while in post.
What you will be assessed against
To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:
• Experience in leading the design and implementation of IT Solutions, Architecture and Design
• Being responsible for securing and maintaining the integrity of information systems operating at SECRET level.
• Demonstrable level of implementing ITIL service management principles.
• Experience of writing system requirements, Solution recommendations, High-Level designs and Low-level designs.
• High level of communication skills
It would benefit your application should you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
• British Computer Society (BCS) ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Enterprise & Solution Architectures
• Experience of running engineering applications and processes on High Performance Computer (HPC) clusters.
• Cyber Security Certification
• CISCO Network Manager Certifications
• ITIL 4 Practitioner Certification
