Salary

£36,550 – £43,000

The SDA employ over 1500 people and have a great opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer to join their team based at Abbey Wood.

If successful you will be responsible for the provision, maintenance and development of network infrastructures for two SDA Enterprise IT systems. In particular the post holder will:

• Ensure the continued delivery of the existing IT systems network infrastructures to meet the business need and in accordance with MoD policy and security guidelines for the implementation of IT systems.
• Manage the development and enhancement of the Enterprise IT systems network infrastructures to meet the emerging US and UK business requirements.
• Manage the security of the SDA Enterprise networks.
• Produce and maintain network design and configuration documentation including installation drawings and equipment configurations.
• Provide Technical Design and Technical Security advice to industry partners.
• Provide Third Line Technical support for Enterprise Networks

Please note that, due to security requirements, this post is open to Sole UK nationals only and the successful candidate must also be willing and be able to attain DV (Developed Vetting) clearance once in post.

Responsibilities

• Lead a Team of IT Operations Analysts to provide a high-quality service to customers to meet the business needs.
• Lead and facilitate the implementation of ITIL processes & framework to support and maintain service delivery.
• Responsible for monitoring call volumes, trend analysis of reported incidents or repeated customer enquiries and escalating incidents to Senior Management.
• Deliver the IT Operations strategies, identifying staff, tools and specialised support requirements as necessary to improve service quality.
• Be responsible for monitoring release activity and assessing the impact to service, influencing project stakeholders to mitigate outages.
• Review Process and Procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and legislation, identifying improvements where appropriate.
• Manage service Desk activity including incident management and coordinating recovery of service on incidents.
• Work collaboratively with Development Team to identify a fix to restore service and agree lesson learned.
• Drive the problem management process including documenting problem records, influencing stakeholders to support problem resolutions and manage the ongoing risks and impacts to customers.
• Active participation in the IT Operations Community.
• Recruit, train and develop IT Operations Analysts to build capability within the Function.
• Fulfil Primary Delivery Manager responsibilities for your direct reports.
• Perform FDO role to improve capability within the function

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

• Holds a relevant Networking Certification or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of/Familiar with Professional level Security Qualification standards (CISSP, CISA, CISM)

It would benefit your application if you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

• Experience managing or leading a Team
• Knowledge of ITIL or a willingness to work towards certification
