Job Description
Salary

Job description
Are you interested in working on the UK’s Submarine Projects and supporting our armed forces in current and future operations? If so, the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance Engineer, based in Barrow-in-Furness.
The SDA Principal Naval Overseers (PNO) are a team of circa 50 staff, predominantly made up of engineers, providing independent assurance to their project team clients (Dreadnought Alliance and Submarine Production – Astute Class) that submarine build activities meet the necessary requirements of the contract. It is also a requirement of the PNO team to ensure that Project and Engineering Risks and Opportunities identified within the build environment are effectively mitigated and/or realised.
PNO undertake risk-based surveillance of vessels during build, and provide waterfront and build support/advice to delivery teams. Government Quality Assurance (GQA) provides confidence to the Acquirer that contractual requirements related to quality are being performed effectively. This is achieved through the deployment of subject matter experts who apply Government Quality Assurance Surveillance (GQAS) techniques within the defence supply chain throughout the life cycle. These techniques are applied at Management System, process, or product level, and are based on an assessment of the supplier’s capability and performance.
We are keen to speak to and support those candidates that are motivated and driven to progress their careers, with the successful candidates expected to upskill and develop their knowledge, which will be fully supported.
Please note: due to security requirements, this post is reserved for sole UK nationals.
