Information Security is at the very forefront of the challenges facing the United Kingdom today with numerous forces around the world constantly looking to exploit any weakness.

The Nuclear Propulsion Project Team (NPPT) has an exciting opportunity for an IT Professional to own and manage Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Certification for the Nuclear Submarine Enterprise (NSE) Network. The new network replacing the existing NNPP Net is a UK owned domain distributed across UK sites. NSE is currently in Design and Manufacturing phase. The role is essential to the day-to-day operation of the PKI, performance of the contractor and implementation of authorised changes in respect of the NPPT PKI. This role is critical to the secure implementation and operation of the network. As an integral part of the team, the PKI Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the NSE PKI.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring that the NSE PKI continues to operate in accordance with the relevant requirements and policy
• Monitoring and reporting on the performance of the PKI and the contractor.
• Producing plans to ensure the continued delivery of PKI services, policies and procedures and submitting these for reviews and approvals.
• Manging the implementation of all work packages and changes.
• Management, operation and maintenance of the PKI Change Management System.
• Timely provision of advice and guidance as required to the contractor in respect of the operation of the PKI and the interpretation of policies and directives
• Advising on Security and Information Risk
• Maintaining all PKI documentation, the file store and records areas.
• Reviewing and updating all PKI documentation to ensure its accuracy, relevance and usefulness.
• Undertaking customer satisfaction surveys, providing analysis and developing improvement plans based on the received feedback

What you will be assessed against

To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:

• Knowledge of Cyber Security or Defence information and Communication technology (ICT) system standards
• Experience as system administrators on Microsoft Windows based IT systems with knowledge of Active Directory management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management

It would benefit your application should you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

• Working knowledge of the accreditation systems and tools
• Experience of Cryptographic Management
• Knowledge and experience of managing the operation of PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) or equivalent certificate management
