Job description

In this exciting role as Foundation Contract Security Officer located near the beautiful Lake District you will challenged with a varied and highly responsible role ensuring all the Nuclear Security is managed on the BAE Systems site in Barrow-in-Furness. This will include managing the Foundation Contract Deliverables for physical security (gates, guards, fencing, alarms etc.), IT security (systems, networks etc.), personal security (vetting and access), Nuclear security (including materials) and delivery of the MDP Capability.

Responsibilities

In this varied role you will prepare security reports, presentations and Nuclear project assurance documentation to the team leader (SCS 1*) on all aspects of security and security delivery in preparation for regular programme boards (Civil Service 2* level).

You’ll provide Nuclear Assurance through active Security risk management, holding the primary supplier (BAE Systems) to account for the delivery of Nuclear security on site. You will be responsible for delivering and contracting JSP 628 into the Foundation Contract and managing Nuclear Assurance for the deliverables of JSP 628.

You’ll produce assurance reports and hold regular spot checks against KPI’s and deliverables defined in the contract, ensuring value for money is achieved.

To ensure proportionate and effective security is delivered you will liaise commonly with MOD Principal Security Advisors Officer (PSyA) and BAE, which will require you to build long-standing relationships.

You will also be ensuring all Nuclear security effects are compliant with JSP 440 and JSP 628.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Participation in Nuclear Security Assurance board, offering security advice to management board members to ensure compliance with statutory Nuclear security regulation is achieved.
• Highlighting, reporting and escalating risks, issues and potential breach of agreed tolerances to the security assurance board.
• Ensure that learning/best practice from projects is quickly shared across the Nuclear enterprise network to improve delivery of Nuclear Security.
• Delivery and management of all aspects of Security delivery through the FC in particular providing specific professional support and analysis in developing plans for security projects and improvements.
• Compliance with extant MoD Policy, JSP 440 Sup 1 and JSP 628

This post will be primarily based out in Barrow-In-Furness; however, part of the role will require frequent travel to our other sites, including Bristol and London.

What you will be assessed against

To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:

• You will demonstrate specialist knowledge and expertise of being within a similar role and experience in assessing a wide range of security and project deliverables.
• MSyl qualified or have the experience to obtain this within 12months of post.
• Good working knowledge of Defence Security Policy.
• Excellent influencing skills dealing with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external.
• Level 7 Security Management Qualification (or equivalent).
