The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) are currently recruiting for Cost Estimators based out of our impressive waterfront location HMNB Devonport. A vital part of the MOD, the SDA is responsible for the procurement, in service support and disposal of the UK’s Nuclear Submarines and is of significant strategic importance – maintainging some of the most technically complex platforms and equipment in Defence.
This is a varied and challenging position which we see you support delivery of cost estimates ensuring all cost scope is captured, represented, controlled and maintained; along with this you will work with suppliers and stakeholders to integrate relevant information such as schedules and risks and you will also have the opportunity to provide estimating guidance to delivery teams driving investment decisions.
Responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity to join and progress within the SDA, and to be successful you will require critical thinking, problem solving skills and the ability to analyse and interpret data. Part of your responsibilities will involve being able to understand the whole life costs of a project, working with multi-million-pound projects across the portfolio, your contribution as an estimator is vital.
Other responsibilities may include –
• Leading the delivery of estimating products for single Category C/D projects in support of business case/investment decisions
• Supporting the delivery of estimating products for high value projects via a range of estimating tools, techniques and methodologies
• Analysing data from sources across DE&S, international partners and its defence suppliers to support benchmarking and production of robust cost models.
• The ability to think critically, problem-solve, critically analyse and interpret data and communicate findings to stakeholders
• Adaptability and the ability to make educated and reasonable assumptions on sometimes incomplete data sets and respond rapidly to change
