Are you interested in the opportunity to work on the UK’s leading, most exciting Defence projects? The Royal Navy’s Submarine Service has operated the UK’s Nuclear submarines for 60 years, protecting our nation from the extreme threats.
We are currently looking for extraordinary and talented Engineers to join the Superintendent Submarines Organisation. This will see you specialise in the delivery of maintenance and refit for the SSN classes of the Royal Navy’s fleet of complex in-service submarines, including the cutting-edge Astute Class.
A key element of this role is liaising with stakeholders, both internally and externally, and providing recommendations on technical problem solving, coupled with appropriate planning abilities to resolve engineering problems.
This position will see you being based on-site at Devonport, one of our most impressive locations where you will be able to witness first-hand the output of your project delivery. You will form part of a multi-disciplinary team including both military and civilian personnel, with significant value project. It has excellent opportunities to keep progressing and developing your career; you will also have the opportunity to be involved with the apprenticeship schemes ensuring the success of future of the SDA.

Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be responsible for overseeing the Contractor in delivery of submarine engineering survey and maintenance completion. In particular, you must work with the contractor to ensure quality standards and schedule adherence are being maintained, and ensure the SDA are supplying them with the information that they require to complete the customer requirements.
In addition, you will be expected to advise on technical problem solving, coupled with appropriate management planning abilities to resolve complex engineering problems. You will need to define technical requirements, manage solution development and ensure compliance with the customers ‘requirements.
You will be responsible for risk identification and mitigation, including the implementation of opportunities and LfE.
You will manage, review and control emergent work packages for submarine maintenance, material provision and any additional DA Requirements such as design changes.
You will manage concessions, quality assurance and non-conformance audits, taking management actions to minimise and mitigate such instances. Undertaking product verification and witness selected nuclear related and first level activities to ensure the quality standards are being maintained.
What you will be assessed against
To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:
• Proven extensive experience of general engineering standards
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Minimum Level 4 education (e.g HNC) or equivalent relevant suitable experience
• Demonstrable evidence of risk management
• Obtained or working towards registration with an engineering council
