Job description

We at the Submarine Delivery Agency are looking to add a Crew – Training Needs Analysis (TNA) Manager to our Dreadnought Project team.
We are excited for you to join us and to play a critical part in influencing the requirements and solutions that will define how the future Dreadnought Submarine crews are trained!

As our Crew TNA Manager you will liaise with a wide range of stakeholders in order to be able to establish the training needs of our crew, who will be operating and maintaining the range of complex systems on board the largest submarine ever operated by the Royal Navy.

You will utilise your Submarine operational and systems knowledge in order to help define, build and assure a range of training solutions for the purpose of improving performance across the team.

Due to the nature of the projects involved, this role is open to Sole UK nationals only.

Please note that this role could be based at the SDA offices in Barrow in Furness, Abbey Wood in Bristol or HMNB Clyde, HM Naval Base, Faslane. If based at Bristol or Faslane, this role will require regular travel to the SDA site at Barrow-in-Furness.

This role, if based at Barrow offers successful applicants the following for relocation:
External Applicants: First Appointment Expenses up to a limit of £8,000
Internal Applicants: Internal candidates will be eligible for full relocation expenses.

Responsibilities

You will be an exceptional communicator, able to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, colleagues and Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) and author/assure high quality reports and proposals.

As part of a dedicated team, you will be accountable for the management & delivery of the Dreadnought Crew TNA & associated Requirements and for ensuring that training analysis work conducted by our Industry Partners (IPs) is conducted in accordance with the Defence Direction and Guidance For Training and Education (JSP 822) and the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT).

You will use you knowledge to assist the team in the subsequent evaluation and assurance of resulting training solutions as they are acquired and transitioned into service.
Your knowledge of Submarine systems and how they are managed by the crew will enable you to influence and direct both the requirements and solutions and deliver credible and innovative training recommendations.

You will take positive steps to ensure that knowledge levels are current and up to date, using your initiative and skill in discharging training tasks in a positive manner, utilising professional training skillsets to produce consistent, quality and coherent training outputs.

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:
• Experience of Submarine operations and an appreciation of Submarine systems
• Experience of having carried out reviews and assurance of training deliverables
• Experience of providing training recommendations
• L4 qualification (or higher) in an engineering subject or the equivalent experience
• Experience of JSP 822 and Defence System Approach to Training (DSAT) or other relevant Systems Approach to Training (SAT)

In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competencies and behaviours will be assessed at interview:
