The team is responsible for the configuration and maintenance of the City’s SAP ECC 6.07 ERP software environment. The employee in this position serves as the primary subject matter expert for SAP Plant Maintenance OR Material Management. This work requires independent analysis of moderate and complex situations.

The Business Analyst III position is the highest level of the Business Analyst series and serves as a functional IT ambassador and worker for the business unit. This position also requires a high understanding of the software development lifecycle. As such, this strategic position plans, analyzes and leads strategic business initiatives, independently conducting studies and analysis to support business needs with the City’s SAP system

The Business Analyst III serves as a top level functional analyst.  Independently conducts studies and analysis of current and proposed computer applications and programs related to department or program goals, organizational structure and resource utilization, productivity and efficiency to support business needs with the City’s SAP system.  This position will also mentor lower level analysts.

Qualifications

Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required in information technology, business or public administration or a related field and four years functional experience within the desired technological platform and specialty – OR – six years experience working specifically with the software platform for the position (i.e. SAP module).  Bachelor’s degree can also be substituted with four years of consultative experience in information technology analysis, system maintenance, or troubleshooting/problem resolution.

Knowledge & Skills

The candidate must have expert knowledge of SAP in one of the following modules:

Plant Maintenance module: candidates should have working knowledge of SAP Plant Maintenance module. The candidate must have a clear understanding of SAP standard functionality specifically related to processes that include: maintenance plans, work orders, notifications, measuring documents, catalog codes, etc. Additionally, the candidate must be familiar with the SAP configuration points for Plant Maintenance via SAP’s IMG.

OR

Material Management module: candidates should have working knowledge of SAP Material Management module. The candidate must have a clear understanding of SAP standard functionality regarding material documents, stock, storage locations, goods movement, etc. Additionally, the candidate must be familiar with the SAP configuration points for Material Management via SAP’s IMG.

  • Ability to break down a business need to determine whether a business process change and/or technical solution is needed to fulfill the business requirement
  • Independently determine the technological solution to a business need; develop the method, design, prepare detailed program specifications for SAP ABAP if needed, analysis for its execution, and coordinate the planning and implementation of the project
  • Assess and document business needs, business processes, and support systems
  • Identify and write requirements for computer applications to address business needs and construct business processes and workflows
  • Review other business analysts’ work and serve as a mentor
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders on system processes, applications and modifications
  • Execute functional changes and coordinate system integration testing.
  • Conduct user acceptance testing and parallel testing with end users; verify data integrity; and documenting testing results
