Full-Time Sales Representative, National Accounts, Harlequin
Job Description
Job Summary:
Work harmoniously with HarperCollins Canada and Harlequin teams to meet sales goals. Manage Harlequin trade title list along with Harlequin team, pitch and coordinate proprietary projects, and sell HarperCollins and Harlequin mass market list to Costco.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage Harlequin trade title list along with Harlequin team and act as main Harlequin trade point of contact for Indigo buyers (60%)
- Work with Harlequin sales team to identify focus titles and ITPEs each season for both Harlequin adult trade list and Inkyard Press (teen) list
- Sell Harlequin adult trade list and Inkyard Press list to Indigo buyers and pitch books for various Staff Picks of the Month (Adult, Nonfiction, Teen)
- Introduce key Harlequin authors to Indigo buyers when possible
- Work closely with marketing and publicity teams to identify key titles for marketing
- Distribute PR flashes, change memos, relevant news with wider sales team when needed
- Provide cover feedback during weekly meetings
- Work with supply chain on projections, print calls, and reprint needs
- Present Canadian sales updates and plans in internal meetings as well as author and agent meetings
Pitch and coordinate proprietary projects (20%)
- Work closely with HarperCollins US, Usborne, and HarperCollins UK teams to identify proprietary projects for the Canadian market
- Attend bi-weekly meetings with HarperCollins US proprietary team and update meetings with HarperCollins Canada Children Sales Director
- Pitch proprietary projects to Indigo or to HarperCollins Canada Children Sales Director for sales to Costco Canada
- Manage logistics once proprietary projects have been sold to Canadian accounts
- Brainstorm new ideas for proprietary projects in Canada
Present HarperCollins and Harlequin mass market list to Costco (20%)
- Maintain mass market presence in Costco by pitching HarperCollins and Harlequin mass market titles seasonally
- Identify and sell backlist mass market titles that could do well in Costco
Qualifications:
- High degree of written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable presenting in front of groups, one-on-one, and over the phone
- Excellent organizational abilities, ability to multi-task and identify priorities
- Book publishing courses or certificate an asset
- Strong computer skills an asset, especially with MS Office Suite
