Full-Time Safety Administrator

Job Description

Job Summary: 

The Safety Administrator is an integral member of the safety and human resource team and provides a vital and critical role in assisting the Director of Loss Prevention and Safety in developing, delivering and monitoring programs and policies and processes to build awareness to create a culture proactively focused on workplace safety.

The Safety Administrator will maintain proper and clear records that include the reporting and tracking of workplace incidents and injuries, analyze and recognize patterns,  support in the development of training efforts on proper and safety procedures to mitigate, reduce, and eliminate safety and health concerns, assist in investigating incidents and accidents, prepares reports, claims management; may recommend preventative measures; runs queries, analyzes results, and make recommendations to enhance the culture of safety.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The following functions are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed in this position, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities.  Incumbents(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties

  • Ensures that existing programs are maintained and evaluated periodically to ensure maximum effectiveness
  • Work in partnership with managers to investigate and evaluate workplace safety and health concerns or hazards and make recommendations for improvements
  • Advises staff regarding safety protocols and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Conducts routine follow-up safety audits of work sites and office facilities
  • Responds to emergency and participates in incident investigations
  • Makes recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and provides necessary safety training
  • Conducts safety coaching observations, job hazard analysis and incident investigations
  • Compiles and records safety and training data such as First Aid and CPR Training
  • Documents and files claims’ and write letters as required
  • Coordinates training classes and meetings
  • Maintain Labor and Industry claims files and document and maintain OSHA forms
  • Maintain and track safety committee meetings
  • Services as a technical advisor for safety and accident prevention issues.
  • Spends a substantial amount of time working in the field, evaluating safety concerns, ensuring policies, procedures and safety rules are maintained.
  • Maintains records and files and prepares correspondence and other documentation as needed
  • Maintains effective programs for new employees and arranges for periodic refresher training for experienced personnel

Minimum Qualifications/Education/Training/Experience:

  • Preferred:  Associate or Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a two-year or four-year college or university in business or related field; and a minimum of  2 -4 years’ experience in safety; or equivalent combination of education and experience in health, safety, or related field
  • OSHA 30 Compliance Certification

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • A valid Washington State Driver’s License
  • Preferred Certification in safety-related disciplines such as CSHO, COSS, CSP, ASC

Other Qualifications: Requires frequent travel to other Goodwill locations.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Work Environment: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally/regularly exposed to odors and/or airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally/regularly required to work near moving mechanical parts and in outdoor weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is occasionally/regularly moderate.
