Mission Statement: In collaboration with local partners and all affected by abuse, TTD creates innovative responses and mobilizes our community to promote safety and challenge systems of oppression and violence.
Job Summary: The Safe Reentry Advocate is responsible for providing enhanced services to women in Cumberland County’s correctional system and in the community with the goal of advancing TTD’s mission related to the issues of domestic and sexual violence, dating violence, human trafficking, and stalking. This position is based out of the Southern Maine Women’s Reentry Center in Windham and in the community. Travel throughout Cumberland County is required. This is a full-time (40 hours) hourly position starting at $18.00 per hour. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
a. Provide safety planning, support, crisis intervention, court advocacy and information and referral to community resources to victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence, dating violence, human trafficking, and stalking, with a particular emphasis on women who are or have been incarcerated.
b. Refer and link victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence, dating violence, human trafficking, and stalking to all TTD services including but not limited to emergency shelter, groups, legal resources, and face-to-face interactions, with a particular emphasis on women who are or have been incarcerated.
c. Work with all who reach out to TTD to support and improve their understanding of domestic and sexual violence, dating violence, human trafficking, and stalking, with a particular emphasis on women’s experience of incarceration.
d. Working within Cumberland County’s correctional systems, engage with members of the system to enhance their understanding of domestic abuse and use what is learned about these systems to inform TTD work with victims and survivors.
e. In coordination TTD’s Community Education & Prevention Program, engage in trainings on responding effectively to victims of abuse.
