Job Description:

As a Robot Pilot you will be testing our product by working with test technicians and electrical, mechanical and software engineers to perform flight tests using Shield AI’s autonomous quadcopter, Nova 2.  The selected candidate will do the following:

What you’ll do:

  • Perform preflight, in-flight, and post-flight checks and procedures
  • Fly the robot with AI assistance in a wide variety of environments and scenarios
  • Plan and analyze flight missions
  • Assist with maintenance as needed
  • Evaluate and improve process as needed
  • Work with a collaborative, fast-paced team excited about product mission
  • Dodge robots flying overhead

 

The following attributes are useful:

  • Familiarity, experience, and love for flying drones
  • Be able to demonstrate piloting abilities – for example, an outdoor flight with a drone of your choosing (if you have your own you have built, even better!)
  • Demonstrate high level of situational awareness while flying
  • Demonstrate proper flying etiquette and concern for safety
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Logical, efficient problem solver
  • Astute observer of issues and irregularities
  • Clear communication of observed behavior

 

The following would be a major plus:

  • Be able to fly a drone without AI assistance using an RC controller
  • Software, hardware, or mechanical engineering experience

 

Required qualifications:

  • You have a demonstrated record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others
  • Ability to work evening shift hours if needed
