Full-Time Roadside Environmental Engineer II
Job Description
- Perform complex engineering reviews of NCDOT construction activities and the development of sedimentation and erosion control plans for projects statewide.
- Direct plan preparation and meet schedules for assigned projects.
- Coordinate with other NCDOT teams, the Federal Highway Administration, and other State agencies to achieve schedule goals and proper design.
- Knowledge of state/federal laws and hydraulic modeling for the design and development of Erosion and Sedimentation Control (E&SC) Plans for highway construction projects.
- Knowledge of construction practices necessary for design and in-depth review of E&SC plans to ensure compliance with the SPCA and NC G010000 requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to apply the principles and practice of E&SC to the design and development of E&SC plans and review of E&SC plans designed by others.
- Demonstrated ability to gather engineering data and field information to provide technical support required for construction projects to maintain environmental compliance and to evaluate performance of E&SC best management practices.
- Experience communicating details of the principles and practice of E&SC design and controlling laws with internal and external partners with varying technical backgrounds.
- Knowledge and experience in highway design, plan preparation, and the current design principles of sediment and erosion control.
- Candidates who are Professional Engineers.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, and
- 3+ years of experience; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
- You may be required to register as a professional engineer with the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
