Cahaba River Society seeks a creative, collaborative, knowledgeable freshwater advocate who will lead our strategies to protect and restore one of North America’s most biodiverse rivers and safeguard the drinking water it provides Birmingham and central Alabama.
The position supports communities to improve best practices in stormwater and green infrastructure design and strengthen water resource policies, regulations, management and compliance, to reduce urban impacts such as pollution and flooding, improve climate resilience, promote water equity, and increase healthy greenspaces and river access opportunities for all.
We are looking for a persuasive advocate and watershed educator to serve as a resource for local government decision-makers, citizens, developers, business leaders, and partner organizations.
Minimum requirements are an undergraduate degree and 3 years of experience in related fields. Strengths in strategic program development, collaboration, research, public speaking, and written communications are essential.
