SUMMARY OF WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The Earthling Co. is searching for a mission driven, enthusiastic and dedicated Retention & Email Marketing Specialist who has previous eCommerce experience, preferably in the CPG space. As the Retention & Email Marketing Specialist, you will be helping us retain our core customer base. You will understand our customers thoroughly: why they purchase, why they churn, how can we add more value and increase loyalty? In this role you will own the strategy and execution behind our customer retention efforts (email, text, subscriptions, rewards/loyalty program). You will analyze and iterate on initiatives end-to-end that increase customer satisfaction, engagement, and lifetime value.


The ideal candidate is a creative, customer-obsessed content expert who possesses a persuasive attitude, data analysis skills, and is excellent with customer relationships. You will possess a deep understanding of customer segmentation and design, test, and automating proactive customer outreach to drive positive outcomes. This role will play a crucial part in the company’s continued growth, and will be the main driver behind why our customers come back for more. This position will report to the Head of Marketing.

 

LOCATION

This is a remote position ideally located in CA, CO, NV, PA, or TN.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Develop a deep understanding of our customers through data analysis on customer acquisition, purchase behavior, cohort analysis, customer churn, and more
  • Understand the customer inside and out: their needs, wants, demands, and desires
  • Analyze customer behavior and build customer journeys and life cycles; advise stakeholders on new opportunities to acquire new, retain and reactivate lapsed customers
  • Create, manage, optimize and scale our customer engagement and retention initiatives through email, text, subscription, and rewards program to increase brand loyalty and increase customer LTV
  • Identify and work cross-functionally to pursue product, marketing and customer service opportunities that better engage customers along their journey and increase LTV; this could include new products or programs, pricing adjustments, segmentation, campaigns, and operational changes
  • Define key metrics for retention and cohort analysis; develop dashboards and  monitor and report regularly to leadership
  • Exceed email/SMS marketing KPIs including open rate, click through rate, sales from campaigns, deliverability, and engagement
  • Develop initiatives to keep customers updated on current and future products fostering more peer-to-peer interactions, adding excitement around our product portfolio
  • Inform on marketing strategies based on customer journey and lifecycle analysis that lead to successful engagement, upsell, cross-sell, and loyalty while maximizing customer lifetime value
  • Analyze product usage, segmentation, and retention data to gain insights to intervene before customers exit website or churn
  • Develop & test data-driven techniques and strategies to further develop our customer segmentation to provide a more tailored experience for different customer groups
  • Drive cross channel traffic and retention through a strategic approach to customer and message cadence
  • Develop segmentation and behavioral predictions that identify customers who may be at risk for churning as well as key inflection points in the customer journey to take action to impact churn rates

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, or business management, or equivalent related experience, 2+ of years in a similar role for DTC companies
  • Extensive knowledge of owned marketing initiatives, including email/SMS campaign strategy and development, messaging, customer segmentation, and deliverability
  • Experience in consumer journey mapping, segmentation and persona building
  • Experience working with Klaviyo required, with knowledge of optimization tactics
  • Experience working in Shopify, Recharge, and Yotpo a plus
  • Experience with A/B testing and analysis to drive KPI improvement
  • Can analyze data quickly and share/implement findings across a variety of mediums
  • Detailed knowledge of email/SMS marketing regulations in different countries
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with ability to adhere to brand voice
  • Excel at collaboration, brainstorming and creative direction/content
  • Exceptional attention to detail and methodical in quality checks
  • Superior organizational and time management skills; demonstrated ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, startup environment
  • A “no task is too small or too large” type-of-attitude
  • Experience in DTC Ecommerce & CPG companies a plus
  • Interest in and knowledge of sustainability and the zero waste movement
