Position summary:

The Retail Sector Manager is responsible for building out and implementing a strategy for successfully engaging with retail, out of home, and foodservice accounts on the full scope of RA’s work. This includes especially the strengthening of the value proposition of RA’s certification programs for this market segment.

They are also responsible for extracting and analysing retail-specific market insights that have a bearing on the implementation of the retail strategy jointly with other teams in the organization.

S/he will also work with select key Retail and Food Service companies on opportunities for certification, consumer engagement and supply chain projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Implementation: IImplement a global strategy for Rainforest Alliance to better leverage retailers in driving sustainable supply chains and consumption;
  • Support retail and foodservice companies in joining our certification program and work across teams within the organization to adjust processes and systems to the needs of these companies
  • Analysis: Build an understanding of market dynamics, needs and opportunities for the retail industry and develop necessary resources and analysis to share this information with relevant teams within RA;
  • Value Proposition: Support the organization in strengthening its value proposition for retailers across the full suite of offerings, focusing on the successful implementation of the new certification program for retail and foodservice companies.
  • Account Management Support: Work closely with relationship managers and country leads to support their engagement with retailers both in our focus markets;
  • Key Account Management: Additionally, manage a small portfolio of retail and foodservice companies;
  • Stakeholder Platforms: Engage with sector stakeholders and initiatives related to the retail and foodservice industry, such as the Consumer Goods Forum;
  • Other duties, as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Business Economics or related
  • 5-7 years plus experience in commodity supply chains 7 FMCG.
  • Experience working with/within retail supply chains and / or in sectors relevant for RA’s work (such as agriculture, food manufacturing), or in a role closely aligned to the industry.
  • Strategic thinker, and able to turn strategy into concrete action plans
  • Strong communication skills and able to align stakeholders around a common roadmap
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse teams and working in independent contributor roles; Collaborative and a team-player;
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, ability to synthesize and present complex analysis;

 

Salary:

Commensurate with experience.
