Respiratory Nurse (Band 6)

Xyla Elective Care (part of Acacium Group)

Permanent, Full Time (Monday – Friday, Between the hours of 8am and 6pm)

Homebased with occasional travel when required

Salary – £38,000-40,000pa

We have an exciting opportunity for a brand new role in our service to join our team as a Respiratory Nurse, where you will have the opportunity to contribute to delivering high quality clinical care to patients within the service by leading on defined aspects of care.

As a Respiratory Nurse in our service, you will work closely with the Clinical Services Manager to ensure that the service is safe, effective, and well-led to
ensure the delivery of a seamless service to our patients. This is a truly exciting opportunity where you will liaise with other hospital and community teams along a pathway to support the delivery of patient and family centered seamless care, as well as providing advice and education to patients, their carers, and other health care professionals. The Lung Health Nursing team are committed to comprehensively completing the Lung Health Check programme as per the standards of the National Protocol. Depending on the programme location and the individual contract requirements, this could include face to face patient reviews, which may include spirometry and other respiratory testing.

Part of Acacium Group, Xyla Elective Care are delivery partners to the NHS. We provide outpatient, diagnostic and surgical services in acute hospitals as well as a full suite of virtual services 7-days per week. Our virtual hospital service is growing and consists of outpatient, wards, diagnostics, and therapy services and builds on our 20 years of experience in delivering technology-enabled managed services. Robust governance, large workforce and technology create a suite of services that positively impact healthcare experiences and patient outcomes.

 

Everyday you will…

  • Be a defined point of contact for patients/carers for defined episodes/pathways of care, provide clinical care and specialist nursing advice
  • Assess health and psychosocial needs of individual patients, and provide care to meet these needs, through a process of shared decision making
  • Complete the LHC via telephone in line with the LHC(Lung Health Checks) Telephone Standard Operating Procedure undertaking LHC risk scores, and reviewing the inclusion and exclusion criteria for the programme with the patient.
  • Deliver expert nursing care to patients in agreed practice settings, working with nursing/multidisciplinary teams.
  • Lead and facilitate the planning, implementation and evaluation of appropriate patient focused care and treatment, in line with local and national respiratory protocols and ensuring evidence-based practice.
  • Work closely with clinical and management teams in the delivery of key objectives

To thrive in this role, you must ideally have…

  • A valid NMC registration
  • Experience working in Spirometry or Respiratory Physiology
  • Evidence of being able to work across organisational boundaries and experienced in dealing with Lung Function Sleep/CPAP & Sleep Reporting
  • Sound understanding of respiratory nursing standards and key performance indicator
  • Strong planning, communication and organisational skills
