Job Description

Riverview School is an independent coeducational boarding/day school, providing a caring community for adolescents and young adults with complex language, learning and cognitive disabilities. We are committed to developing student competence and confidence in academic, social and independent living skills.

Main Function:

Provide direct and ongoing supervision, support, and instruction to students, while overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the dormitory.

Essential Job Function:

  • Full time position requiring maturity, initiative, and a positive, proactive, student-oriented style.
  • Provide direct and ongoing supervision, support, and instruction to students, while coordinating the day-to-day operations of the dormitory.
  • Provide an engaged, structured and supportive dormitory environment designed to promote growth and independence through assessment, direct instruction, positive reinforcement and the setting of clear and consistent expectations.
  • Meet the individual and collective needs of assigned students relative to their unique learning styles.

Job Classification:

  • Full Time – Sunday-Wednesday (Shifts include evenings and weekends)
  • Full Time – Wednesday-Saturday (Shifts include evenings and weekends)
  • Residential Instructors with Overnights (asleep) can earn up to $65,000 annually based on experience and degree.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the School mission and adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Experience working with students with learning and intellectual disabilities and/or a willingness to engage in professional development to gain the knowledge necessary to effectively work with the Riverview student profile.
  • Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comply with School, OSHA and Board of Health safety guidelines and training.
  • Maintain current CPR, First Aid and EpiPen certifications.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with students, families and co-workers.
  • Current Valid Driver’s license
  • Suitable background check (CORI, SORI, DCF) and Fingerprinting required.
