The Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep and Allergy is seeking a visiting Research Specialist to join their team.
The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep and Allergy Medicine within the Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking to fill a visiting Research Technician position.
Research in this lab focuses on pulmonary vascular biology with emphasis on the molecular mechanisms of acute lung injury. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, and biochemistry techniques including PCR, western blotting, transfection, DNA preparations, basic immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy.
The successful candidate will conduct, under supervision of the principal investigator, experiments in signaling biology, biochemistry, and molecular pharmacology aimed at understanding the molecular mechanisms of acute lung injury with a goal of discovering and validating new therapeutic targets and biomarkers.
In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for ordering and organizing laboratory supplies, maintaining equipment, cataloging reagents, and other organizational tasks. The individual will present his/her research findings internally as well as at local and national conferences. Significant contribution to the publications of the research team is expected.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in science or related field and a minimum of 3 years related research experience required
