Position Description: Research Scientist (On-site)
Conduct in vivo and ex vivo physiology experiments to support drug discovery programs within the Department of Cardiovascular Disease.
EDUCATION PREFERRED: Bachelors in Biology or Physiology or related discipline.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: > 10 years of relevant experience after degree
LIST MAJOR SKILLS REQUIRED: Cardiovascular physiologist with experience conducting in vivo and ex vivo experiments. Experience with ex vivo heart preparations such as Langendorff heart and/or working heart model is a valuable plus. Intact tissue and cell isolations from perfused hearts also desired, but can be learned. Experience handling rodent species necessary. Some dosing of animals may be needed. Background in animal surgery is a plus. Data analysis methods to include data reduction, graphing and statistical analysis (ie: Excel and Prism) are required. Ability to work well within a team is a must. Good analytical and communication skills required.
RESPONSIBILITIES REQUIRED: The successful candidate will support in vivo model development activities. Responsibilities will include: the execution of in vivo and ex vivo studies in to evaluate test compounds and the recording, analyzing and presentation of the resultant data.
