Full-Time Research Bid and Tender Coordinator

Job Description

Salary – £36,245 to £38,463
Hybrid working (50/50)
Permanent and Full-Time (37 hours per week, part-time will be considered, it would need to be equivalent to 4 full days)
Preferred Location: Wallingford
Alternative Locations: Bangor, North Wales, Edinburgh or Lancaster (all locations will be equally considered)

UKCEH is looking for a Research Bid and Tender Coordinator (known internally as a Tender Support Executive) to join our 600-strong team, contributing to scientific discovery and generating the data, insights and solutions that researchers, businesses and governments need to solve complex environmental challenges.

You’ll be joining our highly valued, friendly and expanding Tender Support Team. We help secure competitive income opportunities amounting to over £30M per year! You’ll help us interpret funding models from new and current funders, as well as eligibility requirements, to ensure opportunities found are suitable for our scientists to apply for. Additionally, you’ll work with our scientists to build proposals and complete compliancy checks ahead of submission.

There will be opportunities to learn more about the research our scientists conduct within the UK and globally, and to develop skills to search for new and exciting research opportunities for UKCEH.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and coordinating the overall bidding process to range of different funders
  • Assembling corporate information and ensuring all required components are completed and submitted on time
  • Liaising with internal staff about new bidding opportunities
  • Assessing the bidding requirements and funding models from funders

 

For the role of Research Bid and Tender Coordinator, we’re looking for someone who has:

 

  • The ability to critique and proofread documents, to produce high quality proposals and tenders
  • Skills in assessing bid competitiveness, including addressing and complying with call-specific information
  • The ability to show initiative, problem solve, together with being solution orientated to streamline processes
  • Excellent IT skills in Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint systems, with good working knowledge of databases
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (written and verbal), able to build good relationships across a broad range of stakeholders and within the team, demonstrating a collaborative and inclusive approach
  • The ability to work independently and manage their own time effectively
  • Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent, ideally educated to degree level, preferably in a science subject, or equivalent demonstrable experience

 

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in an academic research environment
