Part-Time Research Assistant

Job Description

Title: Research assistant
Reports to: Research Coordinator
Hours: 32
Compensation: $19/hr – $21/hr DOE and Location
Benefits: Health benefits include medical, dental and vision. Paid time off includes 6 weeks PTO/year, sick time, paid family + medical leave, and parental leave.
Location: remote, with option to be in person if in the Bay Area when it is safe to do so.
Start Date: April 5th depending on availability

Trans Lifeline connects trans people to the community, resources, and support they need to survive and thrive–building a resilient trans community through trans-led direct services. Trans Lifeline’s Hotline cares for trans people through moments of crisis and suicidality. Our Microgrants program provides low-barrier grants to trans people in need of legal name changes and updated government IDs–as well as specialized support for trans people who are incarcerated or undocumented. By providing care, Trans Lifeline identifies the trans community’s most pressing needs and brings that expertise to the broad movement for LGBT equality.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
-Works with the Research Coordinator to keep the ID library and other public and internal resources as up to date as possible, prioritizing usability and accessibility
-Establish research submission metrics in collaboration with the Research Coordinator
-Manages volunteer labor within projects and tracks the quality of research produced by research volunteers
-Creates training materials to aid in training and onboarding research volunteers
-Regularly meets with volunteers to gauge their progress and experience within the research program
-Works with volunteers processing microgrants and responds to requests for additional research
-Collaborates with Microgrants team on new projects and resources
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
-Experience using the internet to conduct research, collect and screen resources according to geography and individual need, and assessing for potential harm
-Ability to analyze large quantities of information, synthesize and share that information in a manageable format with a team
-Ability to align individual work with the larger vision of the department and the organization
-Experience collaborating with other departments or teams to troubleshoot issues and generate solutions, as well as some facilitation experience
-Experience navigating data organizational tools, for example Google Sheets, Airtable, Notion
-High level of self organization, time management,  and good communication skills
