Job Description
ABOUT THE POSITION: The job of a Relief Staff is to fill in for regularly scheduled employees who are sick or on vacation leave. Responsible for providing direct services and engagement to homeless individuals in relationship-based programs (day programs, overnight shelters, transitional and permanent affordable housing). There are four different types of relief positions: Shelter Counselor, Hygiene Specialist, Bank Teller, and Front Desk Program Assistant.

LOCATION: Various programs through the Puget Sound. May work at multiple programs.
• Shelter Counselor – Several locations throughout Seattle
• Hygiene Specialist – Hygiene Center in downtown Seattle
• Bank Teller – Client Services Office in downtown Seattle
• Front Desk Program Assistant – Several locations throughout King County
REPORTS TO: Program Coordinator or Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
HOURS: LESS than 29 hours per week on average
SCHEDULE: No regular or guaranteed work schedule
SHIFT: Option of day, swing, and overnight shifts 7 days a week
SALARY RANGE: $16.89 per hour
RELIEF BENEFITS: Employee Assistance Program, 403(b) retirement plan, and Seattle Sick & Safe Time
QUALIFICATIONS
• An Associate degree is desired in human services or social work-related field or relevant work experience, certificate and/or equivalent continuing professional development or education.
• A minimum of 1-year experience in customer service, required.
• At least 1-year experience in human services (work and/or volunteer), desired.
• Awareness and/or training around issues of equity, intersectionality, and belonging.
• Familiarity with issues of homelessness, mental illness, chemical dependency, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence, desired.
• Experience working with clients with English as a second language or where there is limited English speaking ability.
