The Product Engineering Department in Athens, Ga is seeking a self-motivated Engineer to work in the Reliability and Sustaining Engineering Team! This team is tasked with Reliability and Factory Sustaining Projects for North America across the following product lines: Truck, Trailer, APU, GENSET, and Solara. The role entails leading projects using the Engineering Qualification Process, Root Cause Identification & Corrective Action Process, and the internal Quality Review Board (QRB) Process. Candidates will be the Engineering Lead for processing data responsible for project execution, factory support, and design changes. This will require working in a multi-functional environment which includes communicating with other Engineers both at a factory and R&D levels, including new Product Development, and working with Supply Chain and Suppliers. Additionally, seeking a GHP Candidate with advanced skills in modal analysis and/or data analysis, including but not limited to Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Modeling Statistical Analysis, (MatLab and/or Minitab), and IPM Model Analysis.
The Reliability Engineer will work with global, cross disciplinary teams to apply model based design, analytical verification tools and methods to lead product and component reliability projects for a full range of HVAC/R equipment and systems for transport applications. Her/his main responsibilities include:
- Review data to settle root cause, engineer corrective action, and develop ideas to qualify corrective action
- Work closely with service and field organizations to acquire data and samples
- Prepare and present updates to engineering team
- Follow and develop standard procedures to generate and analyze failure mode data to characterize component problems
- Ensure component and system requirements and impacts are captured, structured, and modeled via DFMEA and other root cause analysis tools methodologies
- Design and implement corrective action solutions via a rigorous analytical approach based on Warranty analysis, predictive reliability algorithms, and generated test data
- Conduct technical reviews with key experts
- Ensure controls system requirements are captured, structured, and modeled
Job Responsibilities
- Perform Engineering Qualification tasks on Corrective Action & Reliability Projects
- Utilize continuous product & process improvement principles to streamline project deliverables
- Work closely with business personnel to obtain information/data needed for project execution
- Develop and handle Project Schedules including Qualification Testing Timelines, QRB Deliverables, and Supplier Tasks
- Prepare and present Project Updates to Engineering Team and Cross Functional Groups
- Conduct Technical Reviews with key experts
- Perform Data Analysis, Drawing/Model Review, Reliability & Cost Analysis using various tools
Experience & Qualifications
- Knowledge of and experience with DFMEA/PFMEA principles as related to root cause/corrective action problem resolution methods (preferred skill)
- Demonstrated use of lab instruments and data acquisition devices for analyzing and testing mechanical and electrical components (preferred skill)
- Demonstrated use of model-based verification techniques (preferred skill)
- Knowledge of refrigeration principles and systems a plus
- Demonstrated ability to deliver projects/tasks on schedule
- Demonstrated Project Management skills with handling multiple projects
- Practical application of textbook knowledge required
- Effective communication skills (verbal & written)
- Energetic teammate with shown self-motivation and adaptability skills
- Ability to work well with Suppliers, Peers, Management, and Cross-Functional Departments
- Proficient with MS Office Suite; Proficient with CAD Tools
- Proficient with Advanced Modeling and Data Analysis Tools
Education
BS or MS degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Control Engineering with 3-5 years of experience highly preferred
